Investigation into Canadian Civil War
Dear Director,

I hope that this message finds you well and in good health.

The Federal Police wishes to extend its professional appreciation for communications, weapon shipments, and other information provided.

As part of our investigation, we would like to ask for permission to interview Jean-François Fontaine. Additionally, we would like a transcript of the French investigator's questions to Mr. Fontaine. We hope that the full transcript may be shared unredacted.

We would also like the manifests of the French ships used to transport the weapons and the armory, manufacturer, or other entity where the weapons were drawn from. We hope this information can be provided in its original format including signatories of those who cleared the removal of this equipment either from the manufacturer's site or the Army's storage.

We would also like access to the DGSI's records on Fontaine and his associate's activities. If possible we would also like any records pertaining to the DGSE's activities in Canada during the period between 1996-2003 to allow us to understand the scope of the former government's involvement.

We appreciate your cooperation during these times and look forward for your assistance in allowing us to complete our investigation. Additionally I wish to extend my appreciation once more for your sharing of information already.

Sincerely,
Sarah Hardt

Subject: Judicial Request

Your Excellency,

My apologies for the delayed response, as you likely understand my agency is not quite used to working so far in the light so I had to verify with the relevant Ministries and agencies that all this information was cleared for release.

We hereby grant your agents permission to interrogate mister Fontaine. As we believe there is a credible threat against his life from Canadian agents we have placed him in protected custody in an undisclosed location. Your agents will need to be transported in a vehicle with blackened windows so they cannot see where exactly the prison is. I have attached the transcript of his interrogation translated into English, this is also now publicly available on our website. Furthermore, I have attached the recording of the interrogation. This is in French but serves to verify the transcripts and to show that mister Fontaine was not coerced or mistreated in anyway. You may also send a medical specialist that mister Fontaine and the other suspects were at no point in the process mistreated in any way.

We have attached the requested records regarding the shipment and how it was transported. These are copies of the original but your agents may study the originals in our archives when they arrive in Paris. The records regarding Mister Fontaine, his associates, and any related officials is part of the public release but your agents may also study the originals of these in Paris. You will also receive records of DGSE activities, however these are fairly sparse as during this period the DGSE only acted passively from the French embassy in issuing regular reports on the situation in the country using publicly available information. There were no active missions inside their borders.

I am unable to give you records concerning the sale or release of the weapons, as such activity never occurred. Based on the testimony from mister Fontaine and others, as well as reports filed at the time we believe that the weapons were stolen from an Army Base in Nice. Instead we have attached the original report on the loss of the weapons from the Base Commander at the time. We believe several lower ranked officers or senior NCOs were involved in this theft but our investigation to identify these individuals is still ongoing.

Sincerely,
Léontine Rose,
Director, Direction générale de la Sécurité intérieure

[Recording Begins]

[Name redacted]: For the record this is [name redacted], Senior Agent with the General Directorate for Internal Security. This is the interview of Jean-François Fontaine. Mister Fontaine, will you please confirm who you are for the record.

JFF: Yes, my name is Jean-François Fontaine, a proud and loyal citizen of the French state and a friend of French people everywhere.

[Name redacted]: Just your name was enough. Additionally for the record, are you in good health and were you treated well by the National Police Officers and DGSI agents?

JFF: Yes I am, they disturbed my sleep but otherwise they did not mistreat me in any way.

[Name redacted]: Mister Fontaine, do you speak freely and make your statements without coercion of any kind?

JFF: Yes.

[Name redacted]: Mister Fontaine, you have been arrested on the charges of aiding and embedding a terrorist organization, illegal export of controlled weapons, and attempted murder. How do you respond to these charges.

JFF: I have only ever sought to serve the French people. Canada was a fascist dictatorship, our people needed protection. I gave it to them.

[Name redacted]: So you are confessing to the crime of exporting the weapons and all charges related to it?

JFF: I am confessing to serving the French people, wherever they may be.

[Name redacted]: Moving on, were you ever in contact with any Canadian separatist or terrorist movement?

JFF: I was in contact with Quebecois freedom fighters.

[Name redacted]: When did you last contact any Canadian national linked to a separatist or terrorist movement?

JFF: I think it was about six years ago but I’m not quite sure.

[Name redacted]: Was this the following exchange?

[Agent presents the e-mail logs to the suspect]

JFF: Yes, that was the last time I contacted them.

[Name redacted]: Did you secure the weapons you mentioned in this e-mail?

JFF: Yes, I did.

[Name redacted]: How did you obtain access to these weapons as sale was only authorized for the French armed forces or police officers within the borders of France?

JFF: The High Kingdom of France was a chaotic period of time, bases weren’t really secure. I gave some Army guys a million francs and they made sure the next weapons shipment would disappear on transport.

[Name redacted]: So you did not buy these weapons from the manufacturer directly or through a senior official within the government?

JFF: Hell no, those idiots wouldn’t have been able to give me a kitchen knife, let alone so many guns.

[Name redacted]: Was this weapons shipment the only shipment you sent to Canada?

JFF: Yes, after the first one we decided they were unreliable so we didn’t attempt any further shipments.

[Name redacted]: What do you mean by that?

JFF: Those morons were probably monitored by their government the entire time. The weapons were barely on Canadian soil when the Canadians seized them. Our guys barely got out.

[Name redacted]: So the weapons shipment we have on record was the only weapons you ever sent to Canada and they were intercepted by the Canadian government?

JFF: Yes.

[Name redacted]: Did you ever have any dealings with the Heritage Front?

JFF: Who?

[Name redacted]: The Heritage Front is the group responsible for the recent terrorist attacks in Canada and according to Canadian authorities they used the weapons you sent to them.

JFF: I have no clue who this Heritage Front is. I never talked to them, not six years ago and not now.

[Name redacted]: Do you know how these weapons ended up in the hands of the Heritage Front?

JFF: No clue, the Canadians probably fucked up or gave it to them themselves.

[Name redacted]: On the matter of the weapons shipment and related activities and communications, did you have any interactions with senior members of the government of the High Kingdom of France?

JFF: No.

[Name redacted]: Have you ever had any interactions with Her Imperial Majesty, the Prime Minister, the Government of France or any other senior official within the Imperial government?

JFF: No, I barely know their names. I’m sure they will go away just as fast as the last few governments.

[Name redacted]: Thank you Mister Fontaine, that is all I need for now. The agents will bring you back to your cell. The evidence we collected and this interview will be sent to the public ministry to determine on what charges you will be prosecuted.

[Recording ends]

The attached video recording would show Fontaine in good health and without any visible marks or injuries. All information shared with the Germans that wasn't already was now also public.
