Navy Deployment to Red Sea

A Gandhi Indian Navy deployment to the Middle East's Red Sea has been confirmed to be ending by a Navy official today. In a statement given to Doordarshan, he is quoted as saying;

"The Indian Navy has deployed multiple vessels from the Western Naval Command to the Middle East in response to the recent missile attack against Egypt. With the lack of following action, Indian forces are being recalled."

He went on further to say that the deployment had been ordered by Defence Department Head Fernandes, and additionally, that the deployment had been quickly reinforced by a recently commissioned destroyer.

This is the first foreign deployment of the Gandhi Indian Navy, and the first for its new vessel, called the INS Rajput, the lead ship of the Rajput class of guided missile destroyer.
