As the President was currently on the phone Albert Makashov would take the call, answering it after a few rings."This is Albert Makashov speaking, who is calling?"

After checking the identity of the counterpart, the call would be take by the egyptian deputy foreign minister.

"Mr. Makashov, thank you for taking our call. On behalf of the new egyptian administration and President Mando Safar, we would like to formally establish a diplomatic link between our two nations.

Despite the apparent sensible internal situation your nation is currently undergoing, we are confident that the russian people with take the right decisions. We wish to cooperate and work together with your nation, to promote mutual interests.

"A Diplomatic link you say? Very good! I believe your embassy here in Moscow is in good condition, we can continue to use that yes? I would also like to put forward the same assurance that we apparently did to the USA. Our actions are legitimate as Yeltsin's dissolving of the Supreme Soviet in 1993 had not legal basis. We are simply restoring sanity to the situation.

Now then, what sort of cooperation are you thinking of?"

"Egypt will not comment on any russian internal affair, we leave it up to the russians to decide whats best for them.

Rergarding cooperation, well, we would like to first of discuss the possibility of opening trade routes between Egypt and Russia. Egypt is currently seeking new markets for our petroleum, gold, copper and fruit industries. In return, we would be willing to open our markets to russian exports.

Other point of potential cooperation is the arms export. Egypt currently fields a large amount of soviet military equipment. In the near future we would like to acquire maintenance packages and also additional units to expand our stocks.

"For trade? Hmm, well I think the import of fruit, copper, and petroleum would be a good place to start. We have Crude petroleum, Refined petroleum, Natural gas, Coal, and Semi-Finished Iron available for exports.

What kinds of equipment would you be looking to purchase or maintain?"

"Looking at the list you just mentioned, we could discuss opening the egyptian market for russian natural gas, coald and semi-finished iron.

As for equipment, Egypt operates a very long list of material, including several classes of warships, like the Neustrashimy-Class and the Molnoya and Grisha-Class Corvettes, their on-board Kamov Ka-27s, multiple aircraft, spanning from Su-30MK and MiG-29M to Il-20M, and a large number of grount units like the T-90, BTR-60 and missiles with the SPU-35V Redut and S-300PMU1, among many others. We could include a detailed list at the moment of negotiating said maintenance packages.

As for the acquisition of new units, in the short term we would like to acquire some couple hundred T-90s and some S-300PMU1 more. In addition we would like toa cquire some few units of the Tupolev Tu-141 recon drone."

"I will need to look into the prices for the requested equipment, however some pieces are unavailable for export at this moment. Instead of the T-90 we can provide the T-72 Shilden, and instead of the MiG-29M we can provide the MiG-29SE. Also, something else we should discuss is what is currently happening with the Suez?"

"We would appreciate that. At least regarding our MiG-29M and Su-30MK, we are not looking to acquire more units, but eventually merely the maintenance services. Another specific product we would like to acquire from Russia, if possible, would be the Daryal-type radar.

As for the Suez, we are currently restructuring its normative structure in order to comply with national security and economic requirements. It is still open, but it requires a specific permit as well as a potential payment, depending on the nation requesting and the amount and type of ships using it.

"Well, at the very least we can provide maintenance programs for the equipment you mentioned. Though things have progressed that we are unable to produce equipment for foreign export. However, we can make contracts for when the situation has turned more stable.

However, how much is this specific permit you have brought up?"

"We understand the situation, and look forward to do business once your internal situation is solved. We are confident your Government will take the right steps towards that. I will get in touch with the technicians in order to prepare a detailed list of the maintenance packages we require and submit it to your correspondent authorities.

Regarding other issues, would your nation be open to set up some trade routes? We are currently seeking new markets for our oil, fertilizers, gold, copper and fruits. In return we would also be open to import russian goods.

As for the Suez, there is no definitive table of costs, but 50 million for trade routes crossing the Canal and a higher value for military vessels."
