Lord Sebastian Llewellyn Governor-Chairman of the Company | Pranab Mukherjee Secretary of the Company |
The Board of Directors serves as the supreme governing body of the Honourable Indian Company, composed of fifteen principal shareholders representing the largest and most influential corporate interests within the Company’s vast network of holdings. Each Director’s seat is inherited, transferred, or acquired through the accumulation of substantial shares, ensuring that only those with significant financial and historical stake in the Company’s affairs may participate in its highest council. The Board functions as both an executive and legislative authority, steering the long-term strategic direction of the Company-State and maintaining oversight over its commercial, administrative, and territorial divisions. Although its composition is heavily rooted in corporate aristocracy, its members are bound by the Charter of Incorporation to act in the “mutual prosperity of Company and Country,” a clause that nominally enshrines a public duty alongside private profit. Every ten years, the Board convenes to elect one of its members as Governor-Chairman of the Honourable Indian Company, who serves as both the head of state and principal executive officer for the duration of their term. The Governor-Chairman presides over the Company’s internal and external affairs, representing the nation in diplomatic matters and executing the Board’s directives. However, despite their elevated position, the Governor-Chairman remains answerable to the Board as a collective, and may be dismissed through a supermajority vote should they act contrary to the Company’s chartered interests. |

![]() | Lord Sebastian Llewellyn | Governor-Chairman | The Governor-Chairman of the Honourable Indian Company serves as the presiding officer of the Company’s supreme authority, the Board of Directors, and functions as both the head of state and chief executive officer of the Company-State. The position embodies the synthesis of corporate and governmental power, tasked with maintaining the Company’s commercial dominance, administrative stability, and imperial prestige, while remaining accountable to the Board as a collective body of shareholders. Unlike traditional monarchs or presidents, the Governor-Chairman wields no independent mandate derived from popular consent. Their authority flows exclusively from the Board’s charter and the confidence of its members. The Governor-Chairman’s primary function is to execute the directives of the Board, oversee the Secretariat, and safeguard the Company’s profitability and political order across its dominions. The office is filled once every ten years through an internal election among the fifteen Directors. Any sitting Director is eligible for election, though historically, only those from the oldest or most powerful shareholder families have attained the position. The Governor-Chairman may be dismissed by a two-thirds vote of the Board should they act contrary to the Company’s interests or violate the Charter of Incorporation. Powers & Responsibilities

The Minister of the Treasury and Fiscal Affairs serves as the principal financial authority of the Honourable Indian Company and head of the Secretariat’s Department of Treasury and Fiscal Affairs. Operating under the supervision of the Board’s Director of Finance & Treasury, the Minister is charged with the stewardship of the Company-State’s economic system—its revenues, expenditures, trade balances, and fiscal stability. While the position is bureaucratic rather than aristocratic, it wields enormous influence within the Secretariat, for nearly every policy—civil, military, or colonial—ultimately depends on Treasury approval. The Minister’s duty is to ensure the solvency of the Company, the efficiency of its tax apparatus, and the continuous profitability of its global holdings. |
