Hundreds of millions flock to Agra and New Delhi to celebrate the New Year in India. Despite recent events, people where outside and enjoying the festivities. Tourist from around the world and citizens of India all mingled, danced, hugged, laughed, and loved while welcoming in 1998.

Taj Mahal
Early on December 31st 1997, security forces from the Home Guard and Soldiers from the Western Command where seen doing perimeter sweeps of the Taj Mahal, a major cultural site for India. By mid day large crowds began to gather for prayer, and to get a good spot to see the fire work display at midnight. Guards and Military continued sweeps well into the 1st of January. Many concessions where placed throughout the location. By midnight....1998....Taj Mahal

Across New Delhi, India's capital, millions flooded the streets. The streets were filled with storefronts that stayed open late, dancers, street performers, and millions of tourist and citizens. The festivities began on December 31st at 6:00 in the morning and lasted until 9:00 on the morning of the 1st of January 1998.Downtown
