While peace in Asia was Korea's number one priority, the relationship with the United States was one that went back well over a century and especially its historic role in even making the current Korea possible left the Koreans indebted to it for the longterm. With that in mind the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, upon instruction from the Empress, would send a message to the Department of State by secured electronic means to reeastablish formal diplomatic relations.

Mister Secretary,

Throughout modern history the Korean and American people have always been friends and steadfast allies, the role past administrations have played in the Korean War and the decades after to preserve the independence of the Republic of Korea will never be forgotten. With that in mind the Empress has requested me to reach out to your department and first of all provide assurances that the change in government form does not come with a change in attitudes towards this historic friendship. It is also through this message that my Empress wishes for diplomatic relations to be formally reestablished and that discussions may possibly commence on far-reaching cooperation between the now unified Korean Empire and your United States.

Sincerely,
Park SoJung,
Minister of Foreign Affairs

OFFICE OF
THE SECRETARY OF STATE

ENCRYPTED MESSAGE
[TR][TD]

TO: Park SoJung, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Korean Empire ( Hyeon )
FROM: Jackson Fitzgerald, Secretary of State of the United States of America

Minister Park SoJung,

While this change in government comes as a surprise, we welcome the peaceful transition of power in Korea and the continued stability of your country. The United States values Korea as both a historical partner and a nation that we have worked closely with since the fall of communism in the North. With your permission, we would like to continue to have Ambassador Vance Larson and the American diplomatic mission to Korea remain in place to serve as a diplomatic link between our nations. Please give the Empress the warm regards of President Gore. I am open to any discussions you would like to have.

At this time, what is the position of the Korean government on the genocide and war being conducted by Turkey and, to a lesser extent, Saudi Arabia?

Best Regards,

Jackson Fitzgerald
Secretary of State

Mister Secretary,

Thank you for your well wishes, I will extend them to my Empress as well. Your Ambassador has proven himself a friend of Korea and we have no objection to the continued presence of the full American mission. Likewise the Empress has made her intent clear to not replace any Ambassadors or Consuls sent to the United States so we likewise intend to maintain our own missions as they were.

It is the position of my Empress that the actions of Turkey are beyond criminal and cannot stand in a civilized world. Were we in a position to we would have gladly joined in operations to protect minorities within Turkey, the Jews especially. Lacking the military means to do so however we have instead implemented a wide range of sanctions and given refugees from Turkey preferential status within our asylum procedures. This way we hope to do as much as we can for the victims of these crimes.

I am glad to hear that the United States is open to discussing a wide range of topics, as it was our goal to discuss a range of topics from Defence cooperation to access to military technology and the future of the Asia-Pacific. Perhaps it could be possible to organize an American-Korean summit for the purpose of discussing these topics and more.

Sincerely,
Park SoJung,
Minister of Foreign Affairs
