Statement from His Majesty's Government of Austria Israel - Turkish Tensions In the past few weeks, we have seen a significant rise of tensions with the two nations of Israel and Turkey. It began with the current unlawful detention of the Turkish-Jewish minority by Turkish authorities. Our stance on this topic is we call the Turkish Government to release the 26,000 Jews currently held up in several detention centers across the country. Moving on, reports have come in of a Turkish fighter jet that has scrambled into Israeli air space. This is a clear violation of international law of Israeli air space and this poses a significant risk of all out war between both countries. We call for peace and Austria are open to assist if needed. Our stance overall is we will remain neutral as we have since the 26th October 1955. However to protect our fatherland at home and abroad. The following will occur and will begin from today: A Do Not Travel ban will be inflicted on Turkey. We will be recalling all of our ambassadors and closing our embassies, once all Austrians in Turkey return home safely. The Turkish Embassy in Austria has been declared Persona non Grata and they have 24 hours to leave. A Do Not Travel ban will also be inflicted on the State of Israel. This is as a result of the ongoing tensions between both countries and the rising violence between Israel authorities and Palestinians citizens as seen at Temple Mount. Once again, this is to ensure the safety of Austria. Gott erhalte, Gott beschütze. |
Statement from His Majesty's Government of Austria Turkish Embassy This morning, on orders of the Government. We have surrounded the Turkish Embassy in Vienna. This is due to not abiding by the Persona non Grata issued a few days earlier as a result of the current Turkish aggression that has been shown to many countries across the world. A flight has been scheduled for their staff to leave and return back to their homeland. As we also speak since the ban was issued last majority of Austrians have left Turkey and essential and non essential embassy staff have returned home. Gott erhalte, Gott beschütze. |
