Two sentenced for Crimes committed in the 70s

Today a landmark was reached in a closed court case where two Koreans from the North were sentenced to a total of 65 years for crimes committed in the 70s. Dong Jung Hee who can finally be named as the infamous North Korean news reporter who attacked Major Henderson back in June 1975 today has been tried & sentenced for Attempted Murder. Dong Jung Hee will be serving a total of 25 years in Pohang Correctional Institution.

Lastly retired Senior Lieutenant Pak Chul also known as Lieutenant Bulldog, has also been charged with the murder of Captain Arthur Bonifas and First Lieutenant Mark Barrett back in August 1976. There was reports that Senior Lieutenant Pak Chul was killed in a fire fight between North & South Korean forces however the death was not confirmed. Retired Officer Pak Chul will serve his sentence out at Seoul Detention Center.

Inspector General Ch'ae Chang-Min said the following after the cases were ruled in favour of the prosecution team "Today, in the Supreme Court of the Republic of Korea. The Republic of Korea, along with the families of those affected have finally found justice after all those years. Hopefully in the near future, we can bring those who committed crimes against the people of the Republic to justice as well!"
