[IND]: Bids Open for an Infantry Fighting Vehicle for the Indian Armed Forces

Ellie

Indian People's Democratic Federal Republic
Sep 4, 2018

The Indian Ministry of Defence has opened bids for countries across the globe to help the Indian Armed Forces in choosing an Infantry Fighting Vehicle to be used throughout India and its overseas territories. The Indian Ministry of Defence has no specific favored type of IFV, all that is required is that it can withstand extreme weather such as heat and cold, amphibious, and can climb through the mountainous regions of northern India. The Infantry Fighting Vehicle's amphibious abilities are not mandatory but will be looked on more favorably compared to those which aren't amphibious.

The Indian Ministry of Defence will require the following information in the bids:
- Specification Sheet of the IFV
- Is a Domestic Production License Available?
_ If Not, Price per Vehicle
- IFV's Most Favorable Climate

Greetings,

Lion Defense Industries would like to present you one of our most popular choices being offered to the public at them oment .We would like you to consider the 'Bionix' family of IFV's that we currently are offering to the market. We have several different variants to offer, although the general specifications are a shared trait of all Bionix vehicles. We definitely plan on developing the Bionix into the next generation as well.

We have attached information regarding specifications, variants offered, and pricing below.

LDI currently has three different IFV's to offer from the Bionix family:

Bionix 25: The Bionix 25 is the base production model being offered. It has a production price of $800,000.00. Standard load out listed below.

Bionix 40/50: The Bionix 40/50 is a variant of the 25 that offers a different loadout, as listed below. This model serves more as a functional troop carrier than the 25. The production price for the Bionix 40/50 is $450,000.00.

Bionix II - The Bionix II is the newest and most upgraded variant available from the Bionix family of vehicles. This model includes digital battlefield management systems, and A/C is standard. It also includes upgraded day/night thermal sighting (DNTSS) with a dual-axis stabilization system for enhanced target tracking, and an integrated eye-safe laser rangefinder with a max range of 3km.

We have upgraded the main gun on this model, which is now sporting a new ATK mk44 Bushmaster 30mm dual-feed cannon. It also has increased protection in the form a composite Modular Expandable Armor System [MEXAS]. Bionix vehicles are fully amphibious with an optional kit upgrade.

The Bionix II has a production price of $1,200,000.00.

These prices are listed without mark-up, and we would be more than happy to negotiate on a price for sale or licensing.

Domestic production is most certainly available, on the grounds that we come to a favorable deal.

At the present time, The Ottoman Government does not believe that any other country owns examples of this vehicle. At the present moment, Turkey has put this vehicle forward to another potential customer, who wishes to have exclusive rights to this vehicle, however due to a lack of interest or activity from them, we have decided to put this vehicle forward for consideration. In the event that they decide to pick this vehicle, while you're considering it, we will be honour-bound to withdraw this suggestion from the bidding process. However, if you decide in favour of this vehicle before they do, we will withdraw from their bidding process.

Regardless, here is an alternative for consideration, in the event that the aforementioned other interested party picks The Dragon.

Greetings,

As per your bid, we are willing to extend a non-transferable domestic production license with a royalty agreement fee of 10% (relative to cost) of each vehicle for the BTR-4E. It is fully amphibious up to sea rating 4 and rated to withstand all forms of cannon fire except a tank cannon and all forms of hand held HEAT munitions.

Armament is flexible with different modules such as the New Armament Module which is armed with one 30mm automatic cannon, 7.62mm coaxial machine-gun, up to four 9P135M Konkurs or Baryer anti-tank missiles (two on each side of the turret), and one 30mm automatic grenade launcher (fitted in place of the AT missiles on one left-hand side of the turret). It can also be fitted with different turret weapons modules: the GROM module, SHKVAL module, and the BAU 23x2 module.

  • Mass - 17.5 tons (all around protection from 12.7 and 7.62 mm along with grenade fragments) | 25 tons (all around 30-40 mm cannon protection and HEAT missile protection)
  • Length - 7.76 meters
  • Width - 2.93 meters
  • Height - 3.02 meters
  • Crew - 3
  • Armour - Welded Steel with optional applique style addons and Light ERA addons
  • Engine - 3TD-3A (developing over 375 kW)
  • Power/Weight Ratio - 21.4 kW per ton (without addons) | 15 kW per ton (with full armour addons)
  • Suspension - Wheeled 8x8
  • Operational Range - Over 690 km
  • Speed - 110 km on road and 10 km in water

Per Unit cost is 1,500,000 USD and with the license it is 1,650,000 USD per unit (transfer 150,000 USD to Ukraine for each machine) for a fully amphibious and extremely well protected IFV capable of ferrying 7-9 troops in any weather conditions.

Royalty fee is negotiable but I feel that even with it, our pricing is extremely competitive as this machine has few if any real rivals for sheer firepower, mobility and protection especially at this price.

Sincerely,
Petrov Estavliet
Defence Minister of the Ukrainian Federative Directorate

Miss Priya Divekar,

After some consultation between the Federal Ministry of Defence, the Board of Directors for Reichland Defence has agreed to put forwards a non-transferable, domestic production license with a 6% royalty tax attached to each model produced for the KF-31 Lynx Infantry Fighting Vehicle, presented by Rheinmetall Landsysteme, a subsidiary of Rheinmetall Group AG.

The KF-31 Lynx possesses a crew capacity of 3, and the ability to transport 6 fully equipped troops, and possesses an air-conditioned cabin and crew compartment. The vehicle passed trials of the Bundeswehr, and was heavily considered to compliment the SPz Puma for the Streitkräfte. Ultimately, the German Ministry of Defence chose to strictly pick the Puma Infantry Fighting Vehicle; however, that has not deterred Rheinmetall from making its mark with this vehicle.

The Lynx has a modular design and can be configured for various roles: it has a common drive module with interchangeable mission module. The same concept was used on the GTK Boxer 8x8 armored personnel carrier currently used by the German Heer as well. The mission module of the Lynx can be removed and replaced in field conditions within 8 hours; it can be configured as a command post vehicle, armored reconnaissance vehicle, repair and recovery vehicle, and armored ambulance, alongside its Infantry Fighting Vehicle configuration.

Its primary mission module is outfitted with a 30mm autocannon, a 7.62 mm-chambered coaxial machinegun, and can also be optionally outfitted with the Spike anti-tank guided missile. For protection, the base model has a front and flank protection against around 30 mm rounds; all-round protection is estimated to be against 14.5 mm heavy machine guns. Modular add-on armor package can be fitted for even higher level of protection. It is estimated that this armored vehicle withstands mine blasts equivalent to around 10 kg of TNT anywhere under the hull. Crew members and dismounts are seated on energy absorbing seats, Interior is lined with a spall liner, and is also fitted with an NBC protection system and automatic fire suppression system.
  • Mass: 34 Tons (38 Tons with Addons)
  • Length: 7.22 Meters
  • Width: 3.6 Meters
  • Height: 3.3 Meters
  • Crew Capacity: 3 (Driver, Gunner, Commander) + 6
  • Armor: Welded steel with applique-style add-ons
  • Engine: Liebherr diesel (563kW)
  • Power/Weight Ratio: 15.6 kW/Ton (Standard) — 14.8 kW/Ton (Add-On)
  • Suspension: Swing arms with torsion bars and shock-absorbers
  • Operational Range: 500 Kilometers
  • Speed: 65 km/h Road Speed
  • Fording Depth: 1.5 Meters
Each KF-31 Lynx costs 4.6 million US dollars per vehicle, but with the added royalty, that price increases to $4,876,000 (276-million US dollars per vehicle transferred to Reichland Defence) per vehicle. For an added $124,000 per vehicle, you will also be given a maintenance license to coincide alongside it. There is no equivalent infantry fighting vehicle in the Western world that compares to the Rheinmetall Lynx, and we sincerely hope that you decide to continue business alongside us with the acceptance of this bid.

Marcel Dähne

Upon confirmation, a private fax was sent by Reichland Defence, now stating the cost of each Lynx was 5 million US dollars with the maintenance license (400,000 for each vehicle must now be transferred to Reichland Defence for Royalties). Afterwards, it once again thanked the Indian government for choosing to do business with the company.
