Regular patrols of the Japan Coast Guard would get underway within Japanese territorial waters and beyond into the exclusive economic zone. There are many coast guard bases and stations scattered across the country (Structure: https://modernnations.com/threads/japan-japan-coast-guard.18046/) which serve mainly local areas. Vessels designated the following:
  • Patrol Vessel Small
  • Patrol Craft
  • Craft Large
  • Fire Fighting Boat Large
  • Fire Fighting Boat Medium
  • Surveillance Service Small
  • Hydrographic Survey Vessel Small
would patrol areas of Japanese territorial waters which were close to their base of operations, i.e. local patrols. Vessels designated the following:
  • Patrol Vessel Large
  • Patrol Vessel Medium
  • Hydrographic Survey Vessel Medium
would patrol areas of Japanese territorial waters and exclusive economic zone which are within their respective Coast Guard regions. Vessels designated the following:
  • Patrol Vessel Large With Helicopter
  • Hydrographic Survey Vessel Large
would patrol areas of Japanese exclusive economic zone which stretch beyond the main islands, for example the Izu Islands, Bonin Islands, Okinotorishima, Minamitorishima and other distant areas of Japan's EEZ within the Pacific Ocean. The JCGS Soya, an icebreaker, would patrol areas near Hokkaido which were inaccessible by normal vessels, particularly the Sea of Okhotsk. The JCGS Shikishima, based at Yokohama, would be designated to go into international or foreign waters should the Government mandate it, for example the Malacca Straits. All aircraft would be based at their designated airports and would provide assistance should it be needed by any vessel. Helicopters would be on all Patrol Vessel Large With Helicopter designated ships. Fixed-Wing Aircraft would do regular patrols of the coastline within their coast guard region.

The areas designated as Japanese EEZ would be shown in the map in the first post, all areas will be patrolled besides the disputed zones around Dokdo/Takeshima and the Kuril Islands. The Senkaku Island disputed zone and Japan-South Korea joint zone will continue to be patrolled as per normal. Crews would be continuously rotated to allow for enough rest and training. Three Special Operations teams would be on standby at all times to respond to incidents: the Special Rescue Team (Tokyo) for complex rescue operations, the Special Security Team (Kobe) for counter-terrorism and other complex security operations and the National Strike Team (Yokohama) to respond to oil spills and other environmental disasters.
