Dear Secretary Galego,

We greet you warmly with the hope of affirming strong bilateral relations between our people. We feel that our nations have much to gain by mutual friendship and strong economic ties. With that said, we hope to secure a time and place to meet with you or your representatives in Brazil. Our Ambassador has been copied on this email and his schedule has been attached. Please let us know the most convenient time for them to meet and we will send him there.

Of particular interest to us is opening trade between Brazil and Japan. We feel that our economies produce very different goods and could greatly benefit from high level exchanges. We are prepared to commit multiple ships to trade with Brazil.

Yours Sincerely,

池田 行彦

Takezaburo left his office at the embassy in the Imperial District of Brasilia. He had a briefcase full of dossiers, proposals, and data to present to his Brazilian counterpart. He had his main mission, which was to broach trade deals between Brazil and Japan but he had the authority to push the negotiation quite far. He arrived at the office of the Department of International Relations quite early and would wait to be escorted in to meet his counterpart. Takezaburo spoke perfect Portuguese which helped him secure this prestigious post.

Upon hearing of the arrival of the Japanese Ambassador, José Silva Guimarães headed off his office and walked to the Department's front door, greeting the minister with a warm smile and a respectful bow.

"
Mr Yamazaki, it is a pleasure to receive you here, please, come with me."

The Minister spoke, leading him through the halls of the Department before arriving at his office. Inside was a man looking out the window, once the door opened, he looked over, smiling, José spoke

"
This is his Majesty, the Crown Prince of Brazil, Dom Bertrand. His Majesty requested that he may be a part of our Meeting."

Dom Bertrand placed his hand out for the Japanese Ambassador and spoke in a calm manner

"
Greetings, I hope my presence is not too stressing to you, Mr Yamazaki."

Takezaburo bowed to the secretary upon first introduction. He then proceeded to follow the man through the halls of the Department of of International Relations. When the doors opened, Takezaburo instantly recognized the man standing in the room as the Crown Prince. Upon seeing the Crown Prince, Takezaburo bowed low to the man as a sign of deep respect. “You honor me, your majesty.” Takezaburo took the prince’s hand and shook it in the manner common in the West.

“Your majesty’s presence Can only serve to enhance our talks. My government wishes to establish close ties with another major imperial state in the world. We feel especially in the area of trade that we may greatly aid one another. We would hope that each of our nations would commit at least one ship to international trade, exchanging Brazilian meat and agricultural goods for Japanese electrical machinery and our technical apparatuses. We could further trade Brazilian and Japanese vehicles for one another, introducing our domestic made vehicles to each other and let our markets find places for each type. Most importantly, however, would be the first trade arrangement we discussed.

Furthermore, we would wish to sign a Non-Aggression Pact with Brazil.

And finally, we would very much be interested in furthering our ties with Brazil should your nation have more ideas on how we might cooperate.”

"Oh, please, the honour is all mine Mr Takezaburo"

The prince spoke as he shook his hand with a smile, the secretary invited the two to sit down, once they did, the two Brazilians began listening to what the Ambassador said before responding.

"
We can assign ships to a trade route, I assume the route would be between Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo? On the topic of a Non-Aggression Pact, that can also be provided.

On other agreements, how would Japan feel on a Visa Agreement between both of our countries?"

The prince would sit back on his chair, watching as the meeting unfolded.

"Let us each commit a ship then to this trade. We will have one ship that originate from Nagoya and lands in Belem. We believe that this would be the shortest and most efficient trade route. Our ship will bring Japanese electrical machinery and return with Brazilian meant. Your nation can sponsor a trade ship that carries Brazilian agricultural goods and returns with Japanese medical, technical, and optical apparatuses. We can trade most expeditiously through the Panama canal. If you agree, we will dispatch our ship immediately.

Let us sign a standard Non-Aggression Pact for now until more specific terms need to be added"
with that, the ambassador brought out a pre-signed, standard Non-Aggression pact with Brazil which was prepared in anticipation of successful talks.

"We would be honored. By lowering the barriers between movement between our nations, we can vastly improve our economies.

Of interest as well, our imperial family would be interested in meeting with yours. We feel that such high level talks would demonstrate the ties between our nations and our imperial governments."

Dom Bertrand smiled and spoke

"
A Meeting between both of our Families would be wonderful Mr Yamakazi, if you wish to, we can decide on a proper date and location for such a meeting."

The Secretary read through the Non-Aggression pact before handing it to the prince, who looked through it. José then spoke.

"
Very well, on the topic of the Visa agreement, I was thinking of it including Visas for Business Travels, Tourists and Student exchanges."

The Prince would look over to the ambassador

"
If I could sign it, I would, however, unfortunately, only my brother, the emperor, can sign it, I will forward it to him as soon as possible."

"I can confirm then that our trade ship will be immediately dispatched. We hope your ship will begin its trading as soon as possible as well." After allowing the Brazilians time to read through the Non-Aggression Pact, Takezaburo spoke again, "We can arrange a meeting with the families this month, if it fits into your family's time schedule. Your visa program sounds perfect. Let us agree to that here and now. I am more than happy to await necessary signatures on the Non-Aggression Pact."

The Secretary nodded as he reached down to one of the drawers.

"
Very well, We will make sure to dispatch a Trading ship as soon as possible."

The Secretary pulled out a Standard Visa agreement, with all of the agreed clauses on it. the Secretary's Signing on it, he handed it to the Ambassador to sign, placing a black pen on it, the Prince spoke.

"Excellent, please let us know if there is anything else. Once your brother is ready for the imperial meeting, we will let our imperial family know. We are happy to host in Tokyo or join your family here in Brazil. Additionally, if there is any other goods we can trade between each other, we are more than happy to do so.

The ambassador signed the agreement as well. With that, the relationship was secured. Japan had made its first deal in the Americas. Pacific trade has long brought prosperity to the land of the rising sun. Brazilian markets were a treasure for Japanese sellers.
