(Kingdom of Serbia) Rising Influence of the Church

Thousands of Serbians hit the streets of Belgrade to celebrate after it was revealed the democratically elected government of the Republic of Serbia collapsed.

Political scandals and incompetent governance led to the fall of the Republic. Millions of Serbs turned to Uros Vokanovic who led the rebellion to reinstall the centuries old monarchy of Serbia. Uros proclaimed himself a descendant of the House of Vokanovic, and the rightful divine ruler of the Kingdom of Serbia. Uros had the support of the people, and most importantly the overwhelming support of the Eastern Orthodox Church. The Archbishop declared Uros as the rightful ruler of the Serbs.

By evening, Uros Vukanovic was officially declared King of Serbia. The House of Vokanovic is now the ruling family of Serbia. Following the coronation, the influence of the church on everyday people drastically increased. Eastern Orthodoxy was declared as the state religion. Churches have started to push aggressively to convert minorities to Eastern Orthodoxy. In particular harsher Bosniak Muslims have been targeted.​

The Government of Bosnia-Herzegovina condemns the proseletization of the Orthodox church in Serbia as a threat to the religious liberties previously enjoyed by Bosniaks. Nothing shall be done in retaliation as this would harm relations and be regarded as a violation of the constitution.

Both His Majesty's government and the Russian Orthodox Church welcome these developments, and wish to congratulate His Majesty the King of Serbia on his ascension. However we hope that the Serbian people will have the freedom to choose Eastern Christianity and not be forced to convert.

The Hungarian Government would keep a close eye on the events taking place within neighbouring Serbia. As Hungary is a secular society, welcoming all faiths and religions, religious alterations aren't necessarily a concern. The political and economic stability and situation of Serbia is however, and it is this that attracts attention.
