Dear Minister Sathirathai,

I am writing on behalf of the Peter MacKay's cabinet government of the Kingdom of Canada to inform you of a recent development in diplomatic representation in Bangkok.

Following the closure of the American embassy in Bangkok, the Canadian and American governments have agreed that the Canadian Embassy in Bangkok is to take on the responsibility of handling all duties and concerns that were previously addressed to the American Embassy. The Canadian embassy in Bangkok will now serve as the primary point of contact for matters related to diplomatic affairs, consular services, and any other issues that would have typically been directed to the American Embassy. It is our hopes that taking on these duties will assure the stability and lasting peace between the Republic of Thailand and the United States of America.

Should there be any specific protocols or procedures that need to be followed in light of this change, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Our Ambassadorial team is dedicated to ensuring a smooth transition and providing the necessary support to address any questions or issues that may arise during this period.

The Thai Government has been informed by the American Government regarding their intent to maintain their diplomatic mission within the Canadian Embassy in Bangkok. In this regard, the Canadian Embassy, as denoted in their perimeter of official documentation, would remain the sovereignty of the Canadian nation. To ensure the efficiency in the operation, the Republic Thai Government is willing to subsidize any construction or improvement to the Canadian Embassy.

The Thai Government has no further instructions for the Canadian Embassy as of this time. We affirm that the diplomatic protocol will remain unchanged and available through our official website where you can register with your diplomatic ID granted by the Thai Foreign Ministry.
