In the Early hours of a cold Greenlandic evening, the results of the election had become clear. The Independence alliance had achieved it's goals of achieving a majority in the Inatsisartut. To the dismay of the Danish government, the independence faction now held a working majority in the parliament. Running on a ticket of a independence referendum, the campaign had swept to victory in the parliament promising a referendum in the first few weeks of the government. Meanwhile in Copenhagen, the Danish government has already stated it would declare any independence referendum not passed by the Danish National Parliament to be illegal and invalid. Across the Greenlandic capital, celebrations and parties had broken out amongst the independence supports while unionists nursed their wounds and sorrows and prepared for the coming referendums.
