In light of the unification between the North and South, the Royal Air Force has taken interest in the latest news reports from Korean Broadcasting in relation to the delivering of supplies to the North among other operations taking place as a result of the unification. To show their support, the chief of the Royal Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Richard Johns had opened discussion with the Ministry of Defence about potential support to the Koreans. Upon receiving approval, an email was sent to the Korean Government:-

"Addressed to the Republic of Korea,

I am contacting you on behalf of Her Majesty's Government in relation to the unification of Korea and to offer our support through logistical means. Taking note of recent broadcasts submitted by the Korean Broadcasting System, the United Kingdom would like to donate supplies that consists of but is not limited to food; water and medical supplies to support and ease the burden of such a huge political shift that you are facing. To confirm the finer details, This would consist of the deployment of two RAF C-17 Globemasters to carry supplies funded by the United Kingdom to Korea in good faith. We have received confirmation for funding that would permit two shipments a week for two months which I believe will support your government through this transition.

If this is something you approve of receiving, we will be able to begin the organisation to begin the movement of supplies by mid August.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Kind Regards,
Richard Johns
Air Chief Marshal, RAF"

Dear Air Chief Marshal,

H.E. Minister of National Defense Park thanks you for your kind offer. The Republic of Korea appreciates the offer made by Her Majesties Government and Air Force. H.E. the Minister appreciates your offer of assistances for the ongoing efforts to assist with the humanitarian situation. The RAF C-17 Globemasters would be able to land in Pyongyang International Airport where the main operating base is hosted with regards to regional distribution of aid and assistance. The Ministry of National Defense through the Defense Attaché in London has provided the following description with regards to the airport.

The Pyongyang International Airport currently secured by the Republic of Korea Air Force and Army is the main operating base for ROK Forces apart of the ongoing operation pertaining to humanitarian efforts. The ROK Air Force operates daily flights with its fleet of C-130J transports to bring supplies and resources to the airport where the ROK Army Blackhawk and Chinook fleet transport these deliveries to other portions of the country. The Airport is secure and continues to provide for civilian air traffic, although almost none existent. With the current plan for two shipments a week for eight weeks or two months, this will not impact the current logistical arrangements for the operating base.

Signed with sincerity,
Ambassador Park
