Minister,

I am contacting you with the hope of opening negotiations for the purchase of multiple 3D LANZA-LLR (Long Range Radar) radar systems. After reviewing our options, the Defence Material Organisation of the Royal Netherlands Armed Forces have determined the LANZA-LLR as the best option to form the core of our air defence network. We hope that your government is willing to negotiate the sale of this equipment and is willing to assist the Netherlands in its national defence.

Yours Sincerely,

Rik Ramakers
Secretary of State for Personnel & Procurement

I would like to thank you for your interest in the product requested and I hope that we can come to a deal, it has been brought to my attention that the Netherlands and Spain have had little or no contact in the past and it is our Prime Minister who seeks a strong relationship with the Netherlands and we would like to begin a formal relationship with your wonderful country. I would like to invite your Ambassador or a member of your Ministry of Foreign Affairs to meet with myself and a member of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss relations as well as the deal for the radars requested.

I know the Ambassador is a very busy individual dealing with many cases each day so I won't pressure him into coming, please tell him to come when he is free. The meeting will be held between myself, the State Secretary of Foreign Affairs and the Ambassador at the Santa Cruz Palace, home of the Spanish Foreign Ministry.

Minister,

I have forwarded this information to the Ambassador. A meeting with the likes of yourself and the State Secretary warrants the clearing of the schedule, I am certain he will be with your shortly.

Yours Sincerely,

Rik Ramakers
Secretary of State for Personnel & Procurement

The Ambassador upon receiving the message from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in regards to the meeting would have her secretary clear her schedule. After preparing a case file, which contained all the relevant information she might require at the meeting, she had a diplomatic car pull up in front of the Embassy chauffeured by a Diplomatic Security Officer. Upon arrival at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs she disembarked the vehicle and made her presence known to the relevant individuals (reception) at the palace.

The Ambassador would be met by an aide who would guide her through security, through a few corridors before arriving at a conference room which had been set up beforehand. The Minister of Defence and State Secretary for Foreign Affairs would be in the room waiting for the Ambassador.

"Madam Ambassador, thank you for joining us. Can I get you any food or drink?"

After being guided to the conference room by the aide the Ambassador extended her hand to greet both the Minister and State Secretary and responded, "Thank you for hosting this meeting. I'd love a cappuccino if at all possible."

The aide departed the room and went to a nearby kitchen where she prepared three drinks, specifically a cappuccino, a latte and a black coffee which she presented on a tray with a selection of condiments such as sugar, extra milk and a wide range of biscuits from different regions of Spain. She returned to the conference room and laid the tray on the table and departed the room, shutting the door behind her, the State Secretary took it upon herself to make conversation with the Ambassador.

"Thank you for coming here on such short notice, I imagine your schedule is pretty hectic. How are things going back at the Embassy?"

The Ambassador thanked the aide when she received her coffee, she added a cube of sugar and stirred before responding to the Secretary, "I wouldn't necessarily say hectic, though I'm kept busy. Madrid is one of the nicer postings for an ambassador with your nation being stable, prosperous and sunny."

The State Secretary smiled, listening into the reply from the Dutch Ambassador, it was always nice to meet new diplomats posted to Spain and this meeting was no exception as she sipped on her coffee brought in by the junior staffer.

"Yes, I totally agree with you. If you ever get the chance to, go and enjoy the sun in somewhere like Catalonia, specifically Barcelona is nice around this time or maybe head down south to somewhere like Marbella. How are things back in the Netherlands?"

"I'll see if I can find the time to take a short break from work to visit your recommendations. My government has been busy with restructuring and it has sadly led to a neglecht in diplomatic outreach. The crisis on our southern border also did not help, however with that resolved we can finally look out towards the world."

"How is your government doing?"

"Like yourselves, we are currently undergoing a major restructure in our government and military. The People's Party entered power last week and we have a lot of work to do to after the crudeness of the Socialist Party. I would like to open a free trade agreement between Spain and the Netherlands which I think will benefit both of our countries over time. I believe that Spain has a lot of products that the Dutch people may benefit from, even those on your Caribbean islands."

"Do you have a draft proposal which I could submit to the Ministry back in the Hague? I myself don't have the power to sign such an agreement without parliamentary consent. However, I am certain that such an agreement would have no problem gaining the necessary consent."

The State Secretary for Foreign Affairs reached into her briefcase and pulled out an already drafted free trade agreement which had already been signed and ratified by the relevent Spanish authorities.

"You're more than welcome to send it back to your higher ups. It's been signed and ratified by our government."

The Ambassador accepted the draft and quickly scanned the document before placing it in her briefcase. "I'll have that sent to the Hague upon my return to the embassy. I'd like to bring up the topic of our request to purchase six 3D LANZA-LLR radars in order to bolster our air defence network."

As she waited for a response, the ambassador took a sip from her cappuccino.

The Minister of Defence received a text message from an aide at the Prime Minister's office, she stood up and collected her belongings.

"I'm sorry, if you'd excuse me. I have to attend an urgent meeting with the Prime Minister. My colleague here is more than capable of handling these negotiations. It was a pleasure meeting you."

The Minister of Defence left the room and headed towards the car pool to meet up with her driver. The State Secretary for Foreign Affairs smiled as she continued the negotiations.

"I've just emailed a colleague to get a price for me, it shouldn't be too long."

(Need to price request.) @Dutchy

"Have a good day Minister, it was a pleasure meeting you," the Ambassador said nodding to the Minister as he left the room. The ambassador would continue to wait patiently with the State Secretary as they waited for the price.

The Ambassador was moved into a secure room due to the recent Madrid bombings which the room was secured by a Civil Guard officer outside.

"Sorry for what has gone on Ambassador, the radar will cost $14,000,000."
