[NORSCOM] International Statement Regarding Terrorist Attacks

A press conference was organized at the temporary NORSCOM headquarters in Oslo. Security outside was intense, to say the least, as the three flags of the Scandinavian nations and NORSCOM's banner were flying at half-mast. Oslo police had a heavy presence around the building and Delta Unit was on standby to respond; the King's Guard Battle Group was also issued standby orders at their barracks in Oslo. Invited to the press conference were the Norwegian, Danish, and Swedish ambassadors to the Nordic Council, as well as the Minister of Defense of each Scandinavian kingdom. Dr. Felix Frost, the Prime Minister of Norway, accompanied the Norwegian Minister of Defense. Scandinavian press were allowed into the room, and were seated in the back of the room. There was a podium in the center with NORSCOM's logo on it. On either side of the podium, about three meters back, were tables situated for the Scandinavian officials to sit at. Dozens of Swedish, Danish, and Norwegian flags stood in the backdrop of the room, behind the podium, so that any camera angle would include them all. Everyone was assembled and in their proper seats. Only the people listed above were allowed into the room, with one exception.

The Supreme Nordic Commander, Dan Jasper, was the military-head of NORSCOM. He walked into the room after everyone was assembled in their seats. He was previously a member of the Norwegian High Command and the leader of the Royal Norwegian Air Force. He previously wore four stars on his shoulders, but now that he was the Supreme Nordic Commander, he had a formal uniform designed for himself that included five stars. It was dark blue, similar to his old Air Force uniform. He stepped up to the podium and waited for a nod from the back of the room to indicate that the networks had gone live. He looked very serious, as did the other officials in the room.


"Thank you all for coming this evening," he said, as thunder rumbled outside.
"The Nordic Council met yesterday to express their solidarity for the people of the Kingdom of Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America at this moment of great tragedy and mourning. Our deepest sympathy lies with the victims, their families, and all of those who were involved. The NORSCOM kingdoms unanimously condemn these barbaric acts. The mindless slaughter of so many innocent civilians is an unacceptable act of violence without precedent in the modern era. While there has been no harm done to any of the Nordic nations, these attacks were clearly acts designed to attack Europe and North America as a whole. That is why NORSCOM has issued directives to Scandinavian armed forces and local law enforcement throughout the three kingdoms. Flights from certain parts of the world have been diverted from landing in Scandinavia, and we have temporarily closed all ports of entry in Norway, Denmark, and Sweden.

"NORSCOM has forces deployed around the world who are prepared to strike against any actor that may try to do us harm. Our message to the Spanish, British, and American people is that we are with you. Our message to those who perpetrated these unspeakable crimes is equally clear: You will not get away with it. I've spoken with members of the Norwegian High Command and the Prime Minister who have informed me that Norway will be assisting an allied response to these attacks. The Kingdom of Denmark was one of the first outside-countries in the world to respond, and has been providing assistance to Spain since day one.

"The Scandinavian kingdoms stand united against these awful attacks, and are prepared to respond to any threats directed toward us. We will continue to be in direct communication with our friends in Europe and North America so that we can give our support, and render aid if necessary. Thank you."
