Due to the unimaginable schedule that the British Secretary of Foreign Affairs is currently engaged in, his aide, Minister Brown, would pick up the phone. "Hello, my name is Jack Brown, a Minister of Foreign Affairs for Mr Adams. Unfortunately the Secretary is currently in a meeting but I've been authorized to discuss the state of foreign relations between the UK and Norway. How can I help you?" he spoke softly.
"Hello Mister Brown. Thank you for answering. It's no issue, I'd be happy to talk to you. I would have sent our Ambassador in London to meet with someone from the Foreign Office, but I know how busy you all are so I thought I would call... I'm hoping that this could maybe be a pretext for a meeting between our two governments. I would like to set up a meeting between myself, or the Norwegian ambassador in London, and the Secretary of Foreign Affairs where we discuss the possibility of transferring the sovereignty of the Pitcairn Islands from the United Kingdom to the Kingdom of Norway in exchange for... a financial transaction. Do you think that there is any chance that Her Majesty's government would be willing to entertain this proposal?" @Jamie
"A pleasure to speak with you." he responded, listening to his Norwegian Delegate. Taking some notes on a piece of paper in case anything was relevent before coming to an abrupt stop as the other person on the phone announced their desire. Giving it a few seconds, Jack proceeded to speak. "I can send the information onto the Secretary, although I will be honest, I think it would be more of a courtesy. I could confidently say the government would not consider the option of selling the islands. Particularly for two reasons, one being that the recent disaster regarding the Tsunami.. for Britain to support that then u-turn and sell control. It would be political suicide on top of the fact the British Government is a democracy. There would never be an intention to 'sell' territory with a population, regardless of how small. Might I ask your interest in why you would seek to purchase the islands?"
"I'm very sorry, Mr. Brown. I haven't learned of this tsunami yet. I was only going to inquire further about an uninhabited island in the Pitcairn Islands. You have my sincerest apologies, and the British people have the absolute support of the Norwegian government. If there is anything we can do to assist your relief efforts in the Pacific, please let me know," he said, now feeling like quite a fool. If there was nothing else to be said, the two diplomats would likely end the phone call which would be preceded by another short apology from the Foreign Minister. @Jamie
