Operation 环龙 (Huán lóng)

Republic of China Navy

TOP SECRET

Time: 3:00 AM Local Time
Location: Somewhere at Taiwan Strait

Under the Command of Captain Xian Liu, the Hai Lung-class Submarine would get underwater and submerged. The Submarine Captain made sure that Hai Lung-class Submarine does not leave Taiwan Strait. The radar of Hai Lung-class submarine would continue to scan the international water. By using Sonar Elodone Octopus, type 20026 towed array, DUUX-5, to see if there are any naval contacts in the area. Active sonars emits pulses of sound waves that travel through the water, reflect off the target and return to the ship while the DUUX-5 Passive sonar involves listening to sounds generated by the target.

Suddenly, high pitched alarm noise began ringing. Submarine crews would call Captain Liu to see what's going on.

Captain would raise the periscope, his eyes looks very concerning by seeing so many naval ships in the Taiwan Strait. He would contact the Northern Naval Command of Taiwan.

"Unidentified ships detected at vector 2-1-9, near Chinese and Taiwanese maritime boundaries, on the international waters.

What the F*** are these? Do we have any information regarding to these ships.

Negative, we have to inform control. Track these F***ing ships."

The periscope would be lowered and the Captain Liu would grab the secure communication line and call to Taipei.

"Hello, This is Kilo-10, we have emergency, we have picked up a possible unidentified numerous ships from an unidentified source on international waters around 19°47'30"S 70°16'35"E in the Taiwan Strait, international waters.

Kilo-10 to HQ, We have no information about these ships and what country of origin they have launched from, contact Vietnam for further activity, Over."

The Taipei HQ, Northern Naval Command would rely this information back to the Taiwanese Department of Defense, which on turn would call for a Emergency Meeting.

All this would be secret.

Coast Guard Station Salomague (CGS Salomague), located in Ilocos Norte, would be alerted in the sight of a numerous ping from the console screen of their SERDAR Coastal Surveillance LPI Radar, which appears to be a fleet of large vessels passing at upper grid of OK . The Vietnamese fleet are detected 36 nautical miles away from CGS Salomague (at range of the SERDAR Coastal LP Radar).

Coast Guard auxiliarist in Coast Guard Station Salomague would tune in to the standard shore-to-ship marine channel of their MF radios and contacts the Vietnamese fleet before they enter Philippines’ territorial waters (12 nautical miles from Philippines’ archipelagic baseline):

“Unidentified fleet. This is Coast Guard Station Salomague of the Philippine Coast Guard. You are less than 20 nautical miles from entering Philippine territorial waters. Kindly identify yourselves, your ships, and state your intention. Over.”

The five (5) Cryptologic Technicians from the Philippine Navy’s Naval Intelligence and Security Force (NISF), who are also stationed in CGS Salomague, would be secretly monitoring the communication between the Philippine Coast Guard and the Vietnamese fleet. They would also be relaying their messages the Maritime Research Information Center in Mandaluyong city via secured line in real-time to keep the Philippine Navy updated of the situation.

The Philippine Navy and Air Force are also alerted of the Vietnamese fleet movement in the North Luzon area.

Rear Admiral Phạm Văn Điển who is on the bridge of HQ-1001 would receive the communication after his comms officer informed him they were being contacted by the Coast Guard Station Salomague of the Philippine Coast Guard. Walking over to comms he would speak over an encrypted frequency in reply."This is Rear Admiral Điển of Battle Group Hai Phong. Our strength is fifteen ships. Our intention is to traverse near Philippine territorial water on our way to our destination. If possibly we would like to enter Philippine waters under escort on the way through." he would state ending his encrypted transmission. The battle group would continue forward along it's previously designated path as it awaits a response from the Philippines. Sensors online their technicians wide and alert as they watched both the skies and under the water. The Rear Admiral was not expecting trouble from the Philipines all considering. However he knew that danger could come from anywhere. However, this battle group was composed of a number of ships and crew members whom had priceless experience, and that comforted him.

Coast Guard Station Salomague (CGS Salomague) would respond:

“Battle Group Hai Phong. This is Coast Guard Station Salomague of the Philippine Coast Guard. Permission is granted to enter Philippine territory but maintain 10 nautical miles from our Philippine archipelagic baseline to avoid treading on shallow water. Once your inside Philippine territorial water, please tune your comms. at VHF Channel 10 for radio hand-over to other Coast Guard Station. Also switch ON your non-directional beacon radio for constant monitoring of your bearing and just switch it OFF once you leave Philippine territorial waters. And one last advise, it is best to avoid traversing to the dangerous Balintang Channel near Luzon Strait. Please acknowledge. Over"

the other Coast Guard Station i.e. Coast Guard Station Aparri (Cagayan) and Coast Guard Station Basco (Batanes) would all be monitoring Battle Group Hai Phong via SERDAR Radar and will be on contact with the Vietnamese fleet via the assigned VHF channel 10."

Rear Admiral Điển would respond shortly after over their established encrypted channel."Acknowledged. We will comply with your request and heed your warning about the Luzon strait." he would say. Battle Group Hai Phong would make sure to upon entering Philippine waters turn on their non-directional beacon radio and have their comes tuned into VHF channel 10. The Battle Group would make sure to maintain at the least a distance of 10 nautical miles from the Philippine archipelagic baseline. Submarines would adjust depth to avoid scraping the bottom and IF necessary surface. Maintaining contact with the Philippine Coast Guard the battle group would maintain their speed of 20 nautical miles. Radar scanning the skies and horizon while hull mounted sonars watch bellow. Once entered Philippine waters they still follow the transit route outlined in post #5 which was OL, OK, PK, PL. Knowing not to let their guard down even while in friendly waters they stayed alert and watchful. One could never be to careful, as the Vietnamese People's Navy found out when entering the baltic some years ago.

Battle Group Hai Phong
With the necessary travel time having occurred and twenty-four hours since the previous mention having well passed Battle Group Hai Phong would arrive in Taiwanese waters. Having made sure to follow the safety advice of the Philippines Coast Guard and avoided the dangerous strait. On approach into Taiwanese waters, the Battle Group would contact the Taiwanese Navy via an encrypted channel. Informing them of their imminent arrival and that they would anchor their vessels at the Port of Taichung as previously requested. Following the shore 15 to 18 miles out and adjusting depending on depth and obstructions like Penghu County. Submarines would have to once in range adjust their depth as well as surface on approach to avoid striking the bottom in several locations. Rear Admiral Điển would request permission to dock at the port, and if not that be able to lay, anchor, outside and out of the way of commercial traffic. It was from this port that the Battle Group was hoping to conduct its part of the mission from and to join the Taiwanese navy from there after arrival. He would patiently await a reply as the battle group continued along its way, sensors suites on full alert considering out close they were to the PRC. With that in mind, the crew of the aircraft carrier would prepare six of it's Sukhoi SU-33 complement. Bringing them up onto the deck and putting them into parking and preparation positions were crew would perform maintenance checks as the pilots suited up. The aircraft would be armed with 8 x R-27ET and 4 × R-73E for air defense. The 1 × 30 mm Gryazev-Shipunov GSh-30-1 autocannon would be loaded with 150 rounds as well. The fighters would be given max fuel for max flight endurance due to the need for long flights during this mission.

965th Intelligence Squadron

The 965th Intelligence Squadron at Cat Bi International Airport would now secretly be taking part in this operation. With help from the 32A Combat Engineer Battalion which was currently located at Cat Bi International Airport, they would move aircraft into position. 2 Lockheed M-21 would be lined up in parking with 20 feet between them as the Combat Engineers would fuel them to max capacity. Checking seals as they did so, and double checked their work. Then as safety checks were being performed 2 Lockheed D-21 would be wheeled out from their hangars. Each would be carefully mounted onto their mounting locations on the M-21 carrier aircraft and would have their fuel and navigation systems checked. Once each drone was connected to their carrier aircraft and their systems checked up they would next check to ensure their camera systems were in place. With all systems good to go it was time to plug in the coordinates for each of them. The first drone would be released at 21.607281, 107.311616 where then it would fly up to its operational height of 90,000 ft and proceed to 22.610161, 108.198598 and take a photo. It would then fly to 25.222275, 110.052862 and take a photo once again before moving on and proceeding to 30.821302, 111.007336 where it would take a photo. It would then fly to 32.037374, 112.109703 before then flying to 32.561555, 114.053313 and then flying to 32.253218, 117.145129. Then it would fly to 31.792808, 118.862985 and take a photo before then flying to 30.705342, 120.680376 and taking a photo. It would then fly to 28.778728, 121.806877 before flying to 26.917896, 121.949434 and then flying to 22.890768, 121.182589 where it would eject its camera and film. After that, the aircraft would fly to 14.626895, 120.768344 for recovery with engine shutoff and then splashdown at 13.587221, 119.980125. If all else failing the aircraft would detonate after 48 hours. The second drone was programmed to be released at 17.358270, 112.311924 and fly up to 90,000 ft where it would proceed to fly to 22.636477, 113.814953 and take a photo before flying to 23.401216, 113.305499 and taking a photo. It would then fly to 24.689515, 113.537394 and then fly to 25.372646, 114.614803 before following the coordinates of 25.407167, 115.510846 to 25.088918, 117.470967 to 24.538484, 118.133344 where it would take a picture. Flying to 22.790945, 121.030587 it would eject the camera and film before then flying to 14.140295, 120.280178 for splashdown and recover engines turning off. It was programmed to self-destruct after 48 hours if not recovered and deactivated just like the previous one. Both would be programmed to take slow deliberate turns when going to new coordinates as would be necessary considering they would be programmed to fly at mach 3. An Embraer EMB 145 P-99B MULTI INTEL would be placed twenty feet away from the two aircraft and be prepped for a different recon mission. It would be doing border recon while the other two did a deep search.

The 921st Fighter Red Star Squadron would be getting involved with their 12 Su-35S 'Super-Flanker' currently present at Cat Bi due to the previous Air Tattoo. Each would be armed with 6 x R-77 medium range air to air missiles and 6 x R-74 short range air to air missiles. Their 1 × internal 30 mm Gryazev-Shipunov GSh-30-1 autocannons would be loaded with 150 rounds as per standard. Wheeled from a parked position with 20 feet between each of them and the other aircraft they would be given max fuel for this mission. Finally, a single Beriev A-50 would be fueled and undergo system checks from within its hanger space.

Two pilots wearing high altitude pilot suits for the Lockheed M-21 would board the first of the two aircraft. After that, they would taxi to the runway, all traffic being cleared as they waited. Then they would throttle up and speed down the take-off strip. Engines roaring as they would then lift off in the sky. Gradually they would ascend to their target altitude of 80,000 feet and then once leveled off would approach 21.607281, 107.311616. Once a launch speed of Mach 3 was obtained the D-21 Drone would be launched its engines flaring up as the Lockheed M-21 would decrease the throttle a little. The drone would start moving forward ahead of the aircraft the launch has been successful. With the drone on its way, the M-21 carrier aircraft would begin to slow down and make a slow and gradual turn to avoid entering Chinese airspace. The transit path this drone would take would be OL, OM, PM, PL, and PK. The carrier aircraft, however, would be staying in OL as it would return to the airport.

Meanwhile, as this had been going on two other pilots wearing high altitude pilot suits for the Lockheed M-21 would board the second of the two aircraft. Once locked inside like the previous two they would taxi to the runway after the first had taken off. From there they would throttle up and speed down the takeoff stripe. Lifting off into the sky as they would then gradually ascent to their target altitude of 80,000 feet before circling around. Flying at their cruise speed they would fly to 17.533286, 107.927463 before then flying to 16.599593, 109.913275. Making gradual turns as they began their approach to the launch point. Speeding up to Mach 3 once at 17.358270, 112.311924 they would launch the second drone. Throttling down as the drone would speed ahead of them well on its way. The drone operational the aircraft would begin to slow down as it rocketed ahead of them. Then avoiding Chinese airspace would turn around following the same coordinates back towards their airbase. The path taken so far would be OL, OK. The path taken by the drone would be OK, OL, PL, PK.

The 921st Fighter Red Star Squadron was finished with their preparations pilots wearing SU-35 flight suits and gear would enter each of the 12 aircraft and taxi to the runway, queuing up for taking off. Each having 5 yards of space between them as they sat waiting for the traffic to clear up. Once the way was cleared one at a time they would taxi to the starting point on the runway and take off. Waiting for each aircraft to reach an altitude of 5,000 feet before moving to take off. So one at a time carefully and with purpose, each of the 12 aircraft would take off. Loitering over the airfield at 10,000 feet and forming a loose wedge formation. Each aircraft having 3000 ft distance between each other on the right and left echelons. The central wedge having 4000 ft between the two lead aircraft. The two trailing aircraft also having 4000 ft between them. With the fighter aircraft up in the air next to the Embraer EMB 145 P-99B MULTI INTEL would be crewed with 9 crew members in uniform. The aircraft would safely taxi to the runway after having gone through a complete check over and then take off down the runway. Accelerating and then lifting off ascending to an altitude of 5,000 feet before then moving to 10,000 feet jointing with the formation of air superiority fighters. Trailing 4000 ft behind the right echelon. The Beriev A-50 with 15 crew and fully fueled would then also taxi to the runway. It would then from there take off down the runway, lift off, and ascend to an altitude of 5,000 feet before moving to 10,000 feet and joining the formation. Going 4000 ft behind the left echelon. With all the aircraft in the formation, they would ascend to 20,000 feet and be on their way. Flying to 21.524329, 107.963796 at 500 mph they would fly along the border the Embraer EMB 145 P-99B MULTI INTEL activating synthetic aperture radar, combination electro-optical FLIR system, multi-spectral scanner. and signal intelligence device. It was peering into China with it's systems while the A-50 with it's radar would keep a long-range lookout. The Su-35 Super Flankers being no slouch either with their own radars activated. But electronic systems ready to go at a moments notice such as their L175M Khibiny-M electronic countermeasures systems. The path they would follow while gathering intel would be 21.524329, 107.963796 to 22.941413, 105.832761 while following the border making sure to stay inside Vietnamese airspace. About a mile in their own airspace as they peered down into China before peeling off at 22.941413, 105.832761 and returning to Cat Bi airport. As such they would in travel only use the transit grid of OL for all of this.

While the D-21 for its time was a very potent tool (when it actually worked), RADAR had improved significantly in the decades since. Even with its small size, the dependency on outdated stealth materials and less than perfect RCS—reducing design meant that even a semi-modern radar could detect and track it if they were looking. As part of Operation Guardian both KJ-2000s, KJ-500s and the most advanced destroyer in the world when it comes to radar, the Type 055 were looking. The first drone launched from 21.607281, 107.311616 was detected by the Phased-Array Radar of the KJ-500 along the Vietnamese border. The information was rapidly relayed to patrolling J-11Ds. Time was of the essence as the unidentified fast flying projectile could be anything. From the J-11D one PL-12 missile and a PL-9 missile were fired at the object identified by the KJ-500. The PL-12 would use its radar guidance on the target painted by the KJ-500 while the PL-9 with its infrared guidance served as a back-up. Extreme heat from the ramjet design would make sure that even if radar guidance against the stealthy target failed, the locking onto the heat signature would not. The second drone would find itself flying over the patrol region of both the Type 055 Destroyer Chengdu and within range of a KJ-2000. The combination of he pulse doppler radar on the KJ-2000 and AESA on the Type 055 also made sure that one was easily detected before reaching its service ceiling. Two HHQ-9s would be fired from the VLS tubes on the Type 055, relying on radar guidance and with a service ceiling of 28km they too would not have much difficulty getting close to the D-21 before it reached its service ceiling. The third drone, released from the M-21 at 21.607281, 107.311616 would be more lucky. As it was released outside the range of the Type 055, it was tracked but at that operational altitude not interceptible by the J-11Ds in the area. The fourth drone launched from 17.358270, 112.31192 did not share the luck of its partner. The M-21 tracked as it maneuvered was an even easier target than the M-21. For now the PLA was happy to observe however when it fired its own D-21, which at this point as far as the PLA knew could still be some kind of missile, would immediately find itself facing two HHQ-9s from the Type 055 Destroyer Wuhan, using the same method as the Chengdu. Even the F-117 a way more stealthy aircraft than these had been shot down in the past, and the older technology used here would certainly prove its undoing. This was after all not the Cold War. All of these interceptions would occur over international waters or PLA-controlled airspace.

Seeing all of these incursions into its airspace, and with AEW&C now finding a large formation of Vietnamese aircraft approaching the worst was assumed. Patrolling J-11Ds were joined by fellow pilots in both J-11Ds and J-20s. In the end 40 J-11Ds and 10 J-20s would be headed to intercept the Vietnamese formation. Once it became clear that they had no intention to counter the border, the operation shifted from interception to countering. The J-20, using their advanced AESA radar would actively seek to jam their Vietnamese counterparts. While the jamming was unlikely to prevent the Vietnamese from getting any information, it would certainly hurt their efforts and show Vietnam that they were messing with a sleeping dog.

As no specific armaments were stated for any aircraft or vessels they would have been armed with the following weapons systems. The 16 x Type 055 Destroyers were armed with 1 × H/PJ-38 130 mm dual-purpose naval gun, 1 × H/PJ-14 CIWS, 1 × HQ-10 short-range SAM in 24-cell launcher, and 110 x CJ-10 land-attack cruise missiles. The 5 x Type 095 Submarines had loaded the stores of their 533 torpedo tubes with Yu-5 torpedos and their VLS with YJ-18B missiles. The 10 x Type 039B Submarines would be armed with 18 x Yu-4 torpedos, 100 x Shenyang J-11D Fighters were armed with 10 x PL-9, and 1× 30 mm (1.18 in) Gryazev-Shipunov GSh-30-1 cannon. The 20 x Chengdu J-20 Fighters was armed with 6 x LS-6 Precision-guided bombs in its internal weapons bay, 2 x LS-6 Precision-guided bombs inside lateral bays, and 4 x LS-6 Precision-guided bombs on external pylons.

As no transit route or coordinates were used the South Sea Fleet would be positioned at the upper left most corner of OK. As no effort was mentioned for avoiding Philippine waters and the only language used indicated South of Taiwan the fleet would be entering the Luzon Strait. As the search range of the Type 055 destroyer's radar is 450 km and they are 1062 km away from both the second M-21 and D-21 at launch the vessels would be unable to detect either. As the North Sea Fleet was not given a transit code either and was simply stated to patrol the North and East of Taiwan they would be positioned at PL in the small square directly above Taiwan at the edge of their waters. These destroyers are 1071 km away from the closest drone and carrier aircraft and thus would be unable to detect them. As no transit codes were used for the North Sea Fleet they would be positioned at coordinates PM in the very center small square. This is because it was stated they would be between all three countries and thus due to their positioning would be unable to detect the drones or aircraft at any point during their flight. As it was stated that the destroyers were being supported by the 100 x Shenyang J-11D Fighters, 20 x Chengdu J-20 Fighters, 4 x KJ-2000 AEW&C, and 5 x KJ-500 AEW&C they would be going back and forth between the North Sea Fleet, East Sea Fleet, and South Sea Fleet. At the moment the aircraft would be supporting the North Sea Fleet which is the closest to their launch point in Beijing. They would be flying at an altitude of 10,000 feet and going a speed of 500 km/hr. The first D-21 drone at 28.778728, 121.806877 would be 816 KM away from the 5 x KJ-500 which has a search range of 470 Km and would thus not be able to spot it at any point during the flight. The 4 x KJ-2000 AEW&C have a search range of 470 km against fighter-sized targets and also would thus be unable to spot the first D-21 drone. Both the 4 x KJ-2000 AEW&C and 5 x KJ-500 AEW&C would be unable to spot the second D-21 drone at 24.538484, 118.133344.

While the destroyers would be able to spot both drones on their final approach to Taiwan at points 22.790945, 121.030587 and 22.890768, 121.182589 they would be unable to intercept them due to them having only loaded 110 x CJ-10 land-attack cruise missiles each. The currently loaded 1 × HQ-10 short-range SAMs did not have either the range nor the speed to perform an intercept of either D-21 drones. Even if detection took place they would be unable to stop the drop off over Taiwan. This is because the range of the HQ-10 short-range SAM is 6 km. Due to the distances involved aircraft would also be unable to perform intercepts on either drone. Aircraft would also be unable to intercept the Vietnamese airforce formation on the border due to the distances involved, and by the time of arrival the scan would be complete and aircraft returned home. Thus both D-21 would be able to return with photos and unobstructed by Chinese air or naval assets. The same going for the border operation taking place as no intercept counter ops could take place. However, no Chinese assets were close enough to the border formation to even detect the aircraft formation.

Republic of China Air Defense & Missile Command would be contacted by Vietnam People's Air Force over encrypted channels using SIN encryption. They would be told that two aircraft of Vietnamese origin would be entering their airspace and dropping off two payloads at the coordinates of 22.790945, 121.030587 and 22.890768, 121.182589 in Dulan Forest. It would be requested that they do not shoot down the two drones as they passed through Taiwanese/Republic of China airspace. Also that they have the Republic of China Army retrieve the payloads within the forest in Taiwan. This was the aircraft coverage that they had requested after all. The Vietnamese battle group as a side note was still awaiting a response and making their way along to their destination safely.

The first M-21 carrier aircraft would return to Cat Bi International Airport and land safely free of other airport traffic. Touching down in a safe manner and then gradually braking to a stop. From there it would taxi to a parking spot where blocks would be placed under the landing gears to keep the aircraft from rolling. The pilots would then depart their aircraft for debriefing as the second M-21 carrier aircraft would also come in for a landing. Deploying it's own landing gears as it would touch down, gradually brake, and then taxi safely to a parking spot. Blocks also being placed under its own landing gears as the pilots would exit it and go for debriefing. Engines on both vehicles were shut off as Engineers inspected the vehicles for general damage.

The first D-21 drone would have successfully and unimpeded taken photos of Nanning Wuxu International Airport, Guilin Liangjiang International Airport, Three Gorges Dam, Dengzhuang, and Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport. This along with the immediate surrounding areas within the view of the camera. Then successfully at/above 22.890768, 121.182589 or Dulan Forest it would have ejected its camera payload, the undeveloped film. Landing safely in the forest and awaiting pickup by friendly forces as the drone continued along its programmed flight path. Finally the D-21 would splash down at 13.587221, 119.980125 in Philippine waters for recovery, of which the Philippines had been previously told of. However at the estimated time of arrival the Philippine Coast Guard would be contacted via encrypted channels by the Vietnam People's Air Force. Who was using SIN to encrypt their message which would simply be the coordinates of the splashdown. Well, both splash downs more like as not only were the Philippine Coast Guard given 13.587221, 119.980125 they were also given 14.140295, 120.280178. They were also told that within a certain period of time the drone would self-destruct for security reasons, and if unable to find it to clear the area for a specified 48 hours. The second D-21 Drone would have also had successfully flown along its flight path and taken it's programmed in photos. Photos of Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, and Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport. This along with the surrounding areas within view of the camera. The camera payload would have successfully been ejected at also in Dulan Forest. The drone would then of course splashdown at 14.140295, 120.280178.

The 12 x Su-35S Super-Flankers, 1 x Embraer EMB 145 P-99B MULTI INTEL, and 1 x Beriev A-50 would finish gathering information along their route. The sensors of the Embraer EMB 145 P-99B MULTI INTEL having detected nothing out of the ordinary. The Beriev A-50 also having not spotted any military air movements. All was quiet along the northern border it would seem by all accounts. Upon returning to Cat Bi International Airport like the two M-21 before them they would begin the process of landing. Circling above the airport the formation of aircraft at 10,000 ft would one at a time descend and land. Each waiting for each aircraft to safely land, and then taxi to a parking spot. One at a time first the Super Flankers, then the Embraer, and then the A-50. They parked with 10 yards between them, their landing gears having blocks placed to prevent rolling, and engines shut off. The pilots would exit their aircraft for mission debrief and for information to be gone over.

As the information that there was no military activity from China along the border was odd the Móng Cái Garrison would be called into action to confirm on their end that the PRC was military inactive at the border. A section of 12 Militia would be assembled at Dongxing Port. Wearing K07 BDU uniforms with polished combat boots. The Trung sĩ and Hạ sĩ each took with them a binocular, a map bag, compass, and a map. The two officers were armed with K14-VN pistols which were kept in leather holsters with a magazine already inserted. The currently inserted magazines had 13 rounds in them + 1 in the chamber. The rounds were surplus FMJ and they kept two spare and full 13 round magazines. The rest of the militia were armed with AK-103 assault rifles with standard 30 round magazines. The magazines were filled with 30 FMJ rounds and they carried an additional 8 30 round magazines filled with FMJ ammo in their chest rigs pouches. Everyone took a full canteen of water attached to their belt. Once ready they would in a staggered column with 5 feet between each of the front and back make their way down the sidewalk. At a casual walking pace they would go to Border Posts No. 1369(2). Once there the two officers would from under the trees lift their binoculars and start looking across the border.

The main office of Coast Guard District NWL (North West Luzon), located in Santa Ana, Cagayan, secretly receives the coordinates of the two (2) Vietnamese D-21 drone which landed inside Philippine waters. Coast Guard District NWL will respond by secretly messaging Vietnam that they acknowledge and would send their ships to recover the D-21 drones. A quick mission will be launched:

=====================================================================================================================

Operation Angler

Private and Encrypted

Objective:
  • Locate and recover the two (2) Vietnamese D-21 drones
  • Secure the D-21 drones back to Coast Guard station till it's returned back to Vietnam

Deployment List

From Coast Guard Station (CGS) Currimao:
  • 1x Josefa Slipways MMOV (CGO-004) armed with 1x 50 cal. machinegun and 2x 7.62mm machineguns
  • 42x Coast Guard Sailors
  • 10x UDMC PVAR Rifles with Aselsan A100 optics
  • 5x SLR cameras
  • 5x GPS phones
  • 5x Scuba diving suits and equipment
  • 5x 50-meter seawater-resistant ropes with hooks
  • 1x 300-meter reel of rope
  • 1x 8-meter x 8-meter tarpaulin

From Coast Guard Station (CGS) Salomague:
  • 1x Josefa Slipways MMOV (CGO-005)
  • 60x Coast Guard Sailors
  • 10x UDMC PVAR Rifles with Aselsan A100 optics
  • 5x SLR cameras
  • 5x GPS phones
  • 5x Scuba diving suits and equipment
  • 5x 50-meter seawater-resistant ropes with hooks
  • 1x 300-meter reel of rope
  • 1x 8-meter x 8-meter tarpaulin

All the MMOV will be fully supplied, fully fueled, full complement, full ammo (both ship guns and for PVAR rifles).

Both ships has undergone preventive maintenance checks and are certified seaworthy and fully operational.

=====================================================================================================================

CGO-004 MMOV will proceed to coordinate (13.587221, 119.98012) - the location of the 1st D-21 drone.

CGO-005 MMOV will proceed to coordinate (14.140295, 120.280178) - the location of the 2nd D-21 drone.

The Josefa Slipways MMOV CGO-004 would arrive at coordinate (13.587221, 119.98012) where the 1st Vietnamese D-21 drone has landed. Once arriving at the exact spot, CGO-004 MMOV will halt to start searching for the D-21 drone which apparently has submerged underwater. Five (5) coast guard crew will don SCUBA equipment and will each diver will be carrying 50-meter seawater-resistant ropes with hooks. Once they got all they need, they will start diving. The divers would immediately spot the D-21 drone resting underneath the sea floor. The sea floor in that area is 42 meters , not too shallow for the MMOV’s draught to sail onto and not to deep to exceed the length of their cable assemblies.

The five (5) divers would then securely fasten the hooks to the D-21 drone. Once fastened, they swam back up to resurface and inform the other crew to fasten all five (5) cable assemblies to the davit crane of the MMOV. Once all five (5) cable assemblies where securely fastened to the crane, they would hoist up the D-21 drone and carefully secures the D-21 on the aft deck. All five (5) divers will climb up to back to CGO-004. All the crew will tied the D-21 drone with additional ropes for additional support to the D-21 drone. The 1st D-21 drone would then be covered with a tarpaulin. At this point, the recovery of the 1st D-21 is complete. With fuel and supplies still very abundant due to the very short distance of their voyage, CGO-004 MMOV starts its way back to CGS Currimao.

= = = = = = ==

The Josefa Slipways MMOV CGO-005 would also arrive at coordinate (14.140295, 120.280178) where the2nd Vietnamese D-21 drone has landed. Unlike the 1st D-21 drone, the 2nd D-21 is seen floating on the water; as the area is a way deeper than their area of the 1st D-21 drone (hence, more buoyancy). CGO-005 will position itself on a manner where the D-21 drone is just 3-meters away from its starboard side. Five (5) coast guard crew will don SCUBA equipment and will each diver will be carrying 50-meter seawater-resistant ropes with hooks. They will jump out the MMOV and move carefully towards the floating D-21 drone. The divers will securely fasten the hooks to the D-21 drone. Once the hooks are fastened, the crew onboard the MMOV will fasten all five (5) cable assemblies to the davit crane of the MMOV. Once all five (5) cable assemblies where securely fastened to the crane, they would hoist up the D-21 drone and carefully secures the D-21 on the aft deck. All five (5) divers will climb up to back to CGO-005. All the crew will tied the D-21 drone with additional ropes for additional support to the D-21 drone and will also be covered with tarpaulin. At this point, the recovery of the 2nd D-21 is complete. With fuel and supplies still very abundant due to the very short distance of their voyage, CGO-005 MMOV starts its way back to CGS Salomague.

= = = = = = ==

Once all MMOV’s has returned to their respective Stations; Coast Guard District Northwest Luzon (CGD NWL) would send a private, encrypted message to Vietnam that the two (2) D-21 drones are in their custody.

Mission complete

Time: 06:00 PM Local Time
Location: Somewhere in Taiwan Strait

After the call between Captain Xian Liu and Taipei HQ was over, suddenly a call rang through. He would then contact the Vietnamese Navy via an encrypted channel regarding to access Port of Taichung. “This is Captain Liu, from Taiwan Navy Submarine Commander, granted you the access for Port of Taichung. We have detected numerous unidentified ships operating at the International water. We are operating our sub at the Taiwan Strait. Over and out.”

Since the call was stated finished, Taiwanese Hai Lung-class submarine would then still at underwater monitoring whether any suspicious activities from unidentified ships. The Captain Liu would take note about these unidentified nation ships, he would decided to conduct surveillance until the Phase 2 of Lima Foxtrot announces.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Time: 06:00 PM Local Time
Location: Tamsui, New Taipei City

Meanwhile, Republic of China Air Defense & Missile Command would contact Vietnam Air Force via encrypted channel. They would granted Vietnamese Aircraft to fly over the Taiwanese Airspace and also granted them to access Taiwanese Airspace. Republic of China Air Defense & Missile Command would assure Vietnam that they won’t shoot down the planes from Vietnamese origin and granted them to access Dulan forest about the payloads.

"This is Rear Admiral Điển of Battle Group Hai Phong. Thank you, we will be making port shortly. But we will keep an eye out for the unidentified ships you mentioned." he would say before ending the encrypted call. With permission granted to Battle Group Hai Phong to make port at the Port of Taichung they would do so having arrived at the waters immediately outside the port some time ago. Having stayed outside of the traffic lanes they would then move in and one at a time dock safely. With all fifteen of the vessels docked at open spaces secured snugly into space they would have their gangways connected and extended to the dock. This way crew could get on and off the ships in a rather simple manner. With everything secured and in place all fifteen vessels would begin to top off on supplies. Both food and fuel would be topped off to ensure maximum endurance once they left again, same as before when they originally left port.

The 12 Militia at Border Posts No. 1369(2) would have waited and watched from across the border however would see nothing of note. Thus this confirmed the reports from the aircraft, that there was no Chinese military presence at the border. Details written down they would pack up and head back to base. Coming from the same direction they originally departed from they would arrive and give their report to the base commander. This report was transmitted over the SIN and soon made it back to the MOD. It would seem that the PRC had not placed troops on the ground at their border. This was remarkably odd, but interesting non the less. The ground and air portions of the mission so far had been a success. All that was left was for the naval portion to commence and for the film from the D-21 to be retrieved and processed.

Contrary to what some neighbours might desire the PLA ships and aircraft were still doing well and not controlled by idiots. As the orders were for randomized patrol routes within Chinese territorial waters and its vicinity as well as the air above these, leaving bases as much as possible, that also included returning whenever needed. As such both the PLA ships and aicraft were still well fueled and well supplied, if only because a friendly port was never more than a few hours away and the Chinese countryside was littered with bases that could be used to refuel and resupply. As higher powers had undone the previous departure from disputed territories, both the Xi'an and Tianjin had resupplied in Subi Reef and were now ordered to go back to Yulin in compliance with the ICJ injunction. Citing altered security requirements, Operation Guardian was cancelled pending a new patrol and security operation directed more specifically against newly emerged threats, with ships returning to port and aircraft remaining on their bases. Even if patrol routes didn't involve a return to their bases, the possible assumptions based on an earlier event would be without merit as unlike the prior case there was no deployment well beyond friendly territory.

That being said the Operation did not go without casualties, two sailors on the Tianjin had sustained bruises from facedesking too hard.

Coast Guard District NWL would send a private, encrypted message to Battlegroup Hai Phong that the two (2) D-21 drones are successfully recovered and are under their custody. One (1) D-21 would be in Coast Guard Station Currimao and the other one would be in coast Guard Station Salomague. Furthermore, they were privately informed to just inform Coast Guard District Northwest Luzon (CGD NWL) prior to their port call so that they can prepare the D-21 drones accordingly for hand-over.

Since the Celestial Empire of China had been fallen, and a new government of China took over, there is no point of continuing the Operation Huan Long. All operations against People’s Republic of China would stand down and further operations will require more analysis and measurement about when to take future steps. Taiwanese Hai Lung Class Submarine would follow OL<PL and this submarine would run 20 knots per hour while at underwater. It would take 1 hour (OOC) to reach from Taiwan Strait to Taipei Naval Base. All Naval Surveillance using Hai Lung-class submarine would stand down and Taiwanese Naval Service hereby ceased the operation. Operation Cancelled.
