Despite delays in preparation of the vessels due to on-going technical issues, the carrier strike group had eventually formed and was cleared for departure. This consisted of the aircraft, compiling Harriers, Lynx, and Sea Kings all leaving their respective bases to find their new home; on-board their designated aircraft. Meanwhile, the Royal Air Force had departed for their trip across the Atlantic that would consist of at least two air-to-air refueling sorties. All of which would be communicated with the American Government to advise of their estimated arrival into Edwards Air Force Base. Naturally, this was abiding air traffic control regulations and where able, the tankers would request access to eastern airports or air force bases to refuel on the ground to support the deploying Typhoons and E-3D Sentry. It was the first time the Typhoons will have operated so far from the United Kingdom and served a vital milestone to demonstrate their worth in cross-continent deployments.

Upon their arrival, the focus would be the ground crews, deployed via the TriStars, maintenance on all involved aircraft to ensure they were ready for the combat air patrols expected as part of Operation Pacalis II. The time to arrival would of course, be significantly shorter than that of the Carrier Strike Group who had the lengthy journey to Pearl Harbor. They would intentionally travel through the Suez Canal which would permit resupply from Cyprus and Diego Garcia. Throughout the trip, sailors, aircrew and marines participated in small and large scale exercises. This ranged from general combat air operations to fire drills and simulated attacks. American and Polish forces were sent encrypted messages to apologise for the delay and provide the expected time to arrival at Pearl Harbor. ManBear Odinson

For the last few weeks, the Royal Air Force wing based at Edwards Airforce Base were sure to spend as much time working with their American counterparts as possible. This included briefings, meet-and-greet sessions and even aircraft tour of the RAF complement. Where possible, RAF aircraft took to the skies providing permission was granted for routine training and familiarization flights with combat air patrols mixed in across the west coast. Nothing would occur without authority from those in charge from the United States Air Force and regular meetings were intended with the 'higher ups' to get an idea of how both the US and UK can benefit from the deployment.

Meanwhile, the Carrier Strike Group that suffered delays en-route on their deployment to Pearl Harbor finally arrived. A radio call put out to inform the US and Polish vessels of their presence which was followed by a four-ship flypast of the Royal Navy Harrier IIs. The Carrier Strike Group, hosting eight vessels, would now seek to join the larger collective of the United States Navy and Polish Navy. ManBear Odinson

Ahead of the change of plans as confirmed by the US Secretary of Defence, the Carrier Strike Group were ordered to join the Polish and American fleets on the West Coast of America to support the plans to prevent foreign intervention. Both governments were made aware of the Royal Navy s intention via encrypted messages and the journey to the West Coast could begin. Again, through the transit, aircrews, marines and sailors had plenty of time to keep up with their training and conduct drills across the strike group. Harriers and aircraft often airborne to build up flying hours and carry out general fleet protection duties.

The route followed that of their American and Polish counterparts (PK>QK>RL>AM>BN>CN) but ensured to keep a safe distance to avoid any overlap and remain in international waters, American or British where able. Replenishment at Sea would take place, led by both vessels of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary who, once empty, would depart to re-supply and come back to allow the CSG to remain operational with no downtime. For three months it's remained present in the Pacific to offer support, if needed, to their American and Polish colleagues. Fortunately no operational need had occurred for weapons to be used but it allows the Royal Navy to respond immediately, if needed. ManBear Odinson
