NZDF would offer insight and feedback for both the Russian and Kiwi conduct during the demonstration. The Russian task force would be escorted for a short while by HMNZS Auckland. Once out of New Zealand's territorial waters, Auckland's captain would radio the Russian fleet and wish them luck in their journey home. HMNZS Wellington, under Operation Territorial Watch, would also encounter and greet the Russian vessels.
Before leaving, Commander Moseley would notify the Russian Lt. Colonel of the Ministry of Defence Procurment Organisation's decision to purchase 3 Il-76MD aircraft, and would offer his well-wishes to him. He would also encourage and ask for more joint exercises with Russia.
