Context of Current Political Situation
The Lieutenant Grand Master recently announced that the Constitutional Assembly gathered in Valletta has created a new framework for a government of Malta. Most notably is that the Sovereign Order of Malta will be made the official government of the islands, with a few changes and additions. The most significant of these changes is that there will now be a semi-autonomous Parliament consisting of two houses: the democratically elected House of Representatives and the appointed Council of Knights. This new Parliament will play a major part in the new government and will be the primary democratic institution of the new national government - they will even elect a Prime Minister to act as Head of Government, while the Grand Master will be the Head of State. The former Parliament of the Republic of Malta had long been dominated by the Nationalist Party and the Labor Party. These parties still exist now, however they have undergone a number of political reforms to their beliefs since the fall of the Republic. Both the Nationalist and Labor parties have been heavily criticized in the last few years, as elected leaders from these parties ultimately led to the downfall of the Republic due to corruption and poor leadership. This has led to the creation of several new parties who actually stand a chance of gaining seats in the 1995 House of Representatives election.

Party Positions
The following presents a vague description of each party's position on the political spectrum, and more detailed phrases which they exceptionally focus on. Topics in white are actively supported by party members and topics in grey are on the official party platform. Note that just because something isn't listed, doesn't mean that a party doesn't support it. For example, the Conservative Party doesn't have "Press-Freedom" listed, however it is something they support. A safe bet would be to not assume radicalism.
