The Federal Republic of the Philippines will celebrate its independence day today, Sunday, June 12, 2012. The celebrations will start with a simultaneous flag raising ceremony in different cities and prominent historical places in the country.

Philippine flags will be raised simultaneously in Luneta, Davao City, Cebu City, Cavite, Barasoain Church and at the Bonifacio Monument in Caloocan City. Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte will deliver his first independence day speech in Kawit, Cavite. The theme for this year’s Independence Day celebration is “Kalayaan, Paninindigan ng Bayan” (Freedom, Stand for it) described as the Philippines call to action.
