The Police of Türkiye (Turkish: Türkiye Polis Teşkilatı) is the national law enforcement agency of Türkiye, operating under the Ministry of Interior since its formal organization in the mid-19th century during the Ottoman Empire. The modern Turkish National Police was officially established in 1845 with the founding of the "Zabtiye Müşirliği" during the reign of Sultan Abdülmecid I. It has since evolved into the primary civil law enforcement body in the Republic of Türkiye.
The Police of Türkiye operates according to the Law on the Duties and Powers of the Police (Polis Vazife ve Salahiyet Kanunu), which outlines its responsibilities, authority, and conduct. This law has undergone various revisions and updates, with key modern reforms instituted under the governance of the Grand National Assembly and implemented by the Ministry of Interior.
