PROJECT INFORMATION | The Leoncito Astronomical Complex is located in the argentine province of San Juan. This new 1bn project will allow the expansion and modernization of said project to allow a more efficient and significant contribution to space exploration and astrophysics research. This project is part of the ongoing major science infrastructure revamp on a national level and will also greatly facilitate the operations of the upcoming Argentine Space Program. The new astronomical complex will include 5 telescopes (plus support structure): Very Large Telescope 8.2 m reflector (×4) VLT Auxiliary Telescope 1.8 m reflector (×4) VISTA Telescope 4.0 m reflector VLT Survey Telescope 2.6 m reflector Next-Generation Transit Survey 0.2 m array (×12) |
