| PROJECT INFORMATION | The ethiopian Government has announced a new expansion of the Grand Ethiopian Rennaisance Dam (GERD - https://modernnations.com/threads/project-ethiopia-grand-ethiopian-rennaisance-dam-gerd.24883/ ), to keep up with the increasing energy demand of the growing industry. Thew expanded dam will see its height increased from the current 145m to 230m, increasing the energy output by up to 35%. Water depth will now reach 170m at its deepest point and the new total holding capacity of the reservoir will reach 60,000,000 acre⋅ft. Additional control gates and engines will be installed. Energy output and water flow control will be increased. |
