PROJECT INFORMATION | The Marriner S. Eccles Federal Reserve Board Building (less formally known simply as the Eccles Building) is the headquarters for the Federal Reserve System in the United States. The building was completed in 1937 and is still used as the headquarters of the Federal Reserve today. In order to increase security and bring some parts of the building up to more modern safety codes, a "restoration" of the building was voted in by the Board of Governors, which will cost $75-million. The ornate decorations and aesthetics of the building, which are by this point historic, will be preserved throughout the restoration. The upgrades will also include a secure on-site data center with state of the art computers so that the Federal Reserve can communicate quickly and more securely with other banks and clients throughout the United States and around the world. Also, during the restoration, special measures will be taken to ensure that the Board of Governors can still use the building. All of the materials used in the restoration of the building are American, and all of the construction workers are American citizens. |
