| PROJECT INFORMATION | The Vandh Naval Base is a critical strategic development situated along the Gulf of Kutch, intended to provide India with a specialized, low-profile facility for littoral warfare and covert underwater operations. Located near the industrial and maritime hub of Mundra, this installation is designed as a high-readiness node for coastal defense and special operations. Infrastructure The waterfront will be anchored by two reinforced double-sided jetties, provided double-banking for up to 8 corvettes. A dedicated, low-visibility berthing area will also house 3 midget submarines. These berths will include battery-charging stations and secure "dry-start" maintenance bays. While optimised for corvettes, the primary channel and jetties will be dredged and reinforced to support emergency berthing for larger frigates if required. Capital dredging ensures a specialised approach channel through the mudflats of the Gulf of Kutch, maintaining a consistent depth for submarine operations regardless of the region's high tidal variations. Logistics To ensure fleet readiness, the base will function as a self-contained replenishment centre:
Command, Control, and Security The administrative and security heart of the base will be situated roughly 1 km inland to provide a protective buffer and operational oversight.
Personnel & Garrison Support The base will provide permanent stationing for 600 naval personnel.
