| PROJECT INFORMATION | Kripos, which is an acronym of the service's former name: "Kriminalpolitisentralen" is comprised of Special Agents (and support staff) who investigate crimes spanning across the country, serious major crimes, and organized crime which the normal Police Service may not be equipped to handle, and has a special technical and tactical focus. Kripos Special Agents also assist normal police investigations upon request, and can also provide assistance for the other special police services listed below. Mass crimes and cold cases will also fall into the lap of Kripos. There are already 1000 Kripos special agents, however they will now be receiving a new national headquarters in Oslo, as well as regional headquarters, and county field offices. The national headquarters will be the old Kripos building, but revitalized. The other offices will either be bought, revitalized old buildings, or built brand new. Kripos's special agents have already been put through intense training. Now, a hiring process will begin for support staff. These people will go through background checks and take a polygraph to determine their loyalty to Norway. Only Norwegian citizens may be support staff or special agents. The headquarters in Oslo will have various security checkpoints installed to ensure that the building is not spied on or illegally entered. The upper-floors have bullet-proof glass and surveillance around the building is rigorous. The regional HQs and county HQs also have internal security measures to prevent people from illegally entering the facilities or listening in. To get these buildings either built or refurbished quickly, an additional $72,300,000 has been added to the cost of this project to expedite this construction.
