PROJECT INFORMATION | NORWEGIAN ARCTIC WARFARE ACADEMY The Academy is a training facility for Norwegian, and friendly, personnel. It will have a number of "schools" which will be used to teach specific Specialized Skills. The location of the Academy will be on Stjernøya Island in northern Norway. The academy, for the most part, will be rather rustic and bare-bones because (besides classroom instruction) the majority of the courses and training will occur outside in a hands-on environment. STJERNOYA ISLAND Each of the schools will be located at different points on the island. For transportation, every school has six helipads built for arctic conditions along with the proper lighting. The helipads are also large enough to comfortably fit a Sikorsky CH-53E Super Stallion on each at any given time. All structures on the island having running water, heating, and are built to withstand harsh arctic conditions including heavy snow on the roof and exceptional winds. ARCTIC WARFARE SCHOOL The Arctic Warfare School serves as the island's HQ for the Academy and has the largest number of buildings and facilities for staff and cadets. The Arctic Warfare School has the following facilities located at their designated area on the island: 1. Barracks to house up to 5000 troops at once (facilities are separated between officers and enlisted). 2. Utilities station to provide power, water, and sewage treatment for the school. 3. Comfortable staff housing. 4. Mess hall for troops and private dining area for staff. 5. Library and radio communications room. 6. Norwegian Military Police building with a 4-cell jail. 7. Infirmary that can house up to 150 patients comfortably. 8. Equipment sheds and storage units. 9. A dock to accept shipments. 10. A well-secured armory. 11. Paved paths between these buildings. 12. Appropriate classrooms with restrooms and study areas. MOUNTAIN COMBAT SCHOOL The Mountain Combat School can be used in either the winter or summer months. The school has the following facilities at their designated area on the island: 1. Barracks to house up to 2000 troops at once (facilities are separated between officers and enlisted). 2. Utilities station to provide power, water, and sewage treatment for the school. 3. Comfortable staff housing. 4. Mess hall for troops and private dining area for staff. 5. Library and radio communications room. 6. Norwegian Military Police building with 4-cell jail. 7. Infirmary that can house up to 150 patients comfortably. 8. Equipment sheds and storage units. 9. A well-secured armory. 10. Paved paths between these buildings. 11. Appropriate classrooms with restrooms and study areas. ARCTIC RESCUE SCHOOL The Arctic Rescue School exists to train cadets in different kinds of winter-weather Search and Rescue. SKI COMBAT SCHOOL The Ski Combat School has two locations. The first is the base-camp where the majority of the structures and buildings are located, along with a ski-lift that goes up one of the tallest peaks on on the island, where the skiing actually takes place. The school has the following facilities at their designated base-camp location: 1. The school has the following facilities at the mountain-top skiing location: 1. A ski-lift going from the basecamp to the mountain-top skiing location. 2. A climate-controlled storage facility and small infirmary. 3. Dozens of mapped and cleared ski paths ranging from beginner to expert combat veteran. 4. Rustic cabins to be used in the event of emergencies with stove pipes, flares, and a small amount of canned food and water. ARCTIC PILOT SCHOOL The Arctic Pilot School is the only school not entirely located on the island itself. Instead, it is located North off the coast of an isolated peninsula of land. However, it does conduct operations over the island and is often used by pilots for training, as well as the surrounding isolated areas. The base, which includes a 1.6-mile runway capable of landing a fully-loaded C-5B Galaxy. The school has the following facilities at their designated location (70.522646, 22.715454): 1. A runway capable of landing a C-5B Galaxy built just off the coast of the rocky shore. It is twice as wide as a C-5B and is constructed to withstanding arctic conditions, and also includes the appropriate lighting and markings for such a runway. Surrounding the runway are jagged rocks to act as a breakwater and prevent heavy ice formation from damaging the artificial runway. 2. Several taxiways connecting the runway to the mainland which has 30 hangers built to sustain arctic conditions and they are climate controlled. All of the hangers are large enough to comfortably house a C-130J-30, while two are big enough to house a C-5B each. 3. An emergency response facility including firestrucks, ambulances, and Military Police vehicles and equipment. 4. An infirmary capable of caring for 200 patients comfortably. 5. A barracks capable of holding up to 1000 cadets at once. 6. A utilities center with a power station, sewage facility, and freshwater pumping station to provide electricity, heating, and power to the base. 7. A second Military Police facility. 8. Security checkpoints at the edges of the base to lookout. 9. Pave paths between buildings. 10. A well-secured armory for the Military Police. 11. A communications center for encrypted radio and telecommunications. 12. Comfortable housing for staff and base personnel. 13. A mechanics center for the repair of vehicles. 14. A fuel storage facility for jet-fuel and the utilities center. 15. A standard radar station for tracking aircraft within 50 miles of the base (located atop a nearby mountain). 16. Barracks for housing combat-ready troops or rescue operators (up to 500). 17. A mess hall capable of feeding all of the cadets and any stationed troops. 18. Recreation facilities, libraries, gyms, a theater. 19. State-of-the-art flight simulators that can simulate extreme arctic weather conditions in the safety of a climate-controlled building (10 of these realistic flight simulators, each costing $7-million on their own). 20. A secure operational headquarters for the base-commander and leadership. 21. All of the above buildings are designed for Arctic weather conditions (i.e. plumbing to prevent the freezing of pipes, roofs designed to take heavy snowfall, energy-saving glass that wont shatter in frigid conditions). 22. Helipad area with proper lighting and markings that includes 20 helipads capable of comfortably holding a Sikorsky CH-53E Super Stallion on each. 23. Appropriate classrooms with restrooms and study areas. Arctic Warfare School: Blue Star Mountain Combat School: Red Star Arctic Rescue School: Pink Star Ski Combat School (Base-Camp): Yellow Triangle Ski Combat School (Primary Training Area): Orange Triangle Arctic Pilot School: 70.522646, 22.715454 CONCLUSION These schools are built and designed with a functional telecommunications network. Despite the mountains and fjords, the HQ of each school should be able to communicate with the others either via: cell-phone, radio, sat-phone, or land-lines even in whiteout conditions. This telcom network is encrypted. |
