PROJECT INFORMATION | The government has partnered with The Norwegian Railway Club - a preservationist society for Norwegian railroad history - to build a new DRB Class 52 steam locomotive from scratch. A special grant of $9,000,000 was issued from the government to construct the locomotive from scratch. Blacksmiths, mechanical engineers, and volunteer train enthusiasts with special skills from around the kingdom were organized to build the locomotive in a months time. Such a feet had not been accomplished in modern history. The plan is for the steam locomotive to be used regularly as an express route between Oslo and Trondheim. All of the revenue from the line would go towards: maintaining the locomotive, paying the staff, The Norwegian Railway Club, and a small savings account for future repairs of the locomotive. $250,000 of the money in this project is going directly to The Norwegian Railway Club to help preserve Norway's railroad history. |
