PROJECT INFORMATION | The AIVD has five tasks as described by the law: A-task: Conducting investigations into organizations and individuals that give rise to the serious suspicion that they pose a threat to the democratic legal order, the security of the state or to other important interests of the state; B-task: Conducting security screenings for candidates for positions of confidence; C-task: Promoting security measures, including measures to protect those parts of government and business that are vital to the maintenace of life; D-task: Conducting research into other countries with regard to subjects jointly designated by the Prime Minister, the Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations and the Minister of Defence. E-task: Prepare threat and risk analysis with regard to individuals, things and places of the government. The AIVD will be housed in an office in Leidschendam which will be able to house 850 employees. It will be protected by the Marechaussee and all entries and exits will be manned by armed guards and have metal detectors and bag checks required for entry. The employees will be equipped with the newest computer systems and the building will have equipment for tapping internet and phone lines, equipment for listening to radio and other signals is also present. |
