PROJECT INFORMATION | This ambitious project aims to position Évora as the heart of Portugal's agricultural innovation and sustainability. The National Agri-Tech Innovation Campus will bring together researchers, engineers, and agricultural experts to develop cutting-edge techniques in precision farming, drought-resistant crops, sustainable fertilisation, and mechanised harvesting. The facility will also serve as an incubator for start-ups in agri-tech, promoting collaboration between academia, government, and private enterprise. Portugal, with its diverse climates and historical reliance on agriculture, stands to benefit greatly from renewed investment in this sector. The campus will include research laboratories, testing fields, and a demonstration farm open to local producers for experimentation with new technologies. Through public-private partnerships and future international cooperation, the project will aim to reduce Portugal’s dependence on imported foodstuffs and increase agricultural exports. By investing in agri-tech, the government also supports rural development and mitigates the economic divide between urban and interior regions. Employment in Évora and surrounding areas is expected to rise as training and workforce development are built into the facility’s mission. |
