PROJECT INFORMATION | Department of Defence Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters Defence Research Administration Fort Bunge DESCRIPTION Sweden has rapidly and dramatically become a hub of innovation, technological advancement and military prowess resulting in a notable rise in the level of threat afforded to the mainland and overseas territory including that of Antarctica and South Africa. The objective of the Department of Defence is to research and develop emerging technologies for use by the military with the full establishment of the pre-existing Defence Research Administration to differentiate the Office of Field Development and the newly formed Office of Strategic Military Studies, activities of which will remain top secret and all knowledge is actively denied by the government. LOCATION Bunge, Gotland Coordinates 57.8499, 19.0348 FACILITIES The facility will fundamentally make use of an established World War II airfield which to public record remains under private ownership as it has done since 1991 when it was abandoned by the military. Having been constructed in approximately 1939 the facility is certainly known to the wider public however remains anonymous enough to lack media attention or global observation. Prior to occupation a full site ground survey will be conducted with necessary ground and landscaping amendments made to incorporate: - Administrative Building - Medical Quarters - Chemical, Biological, Radioactive and Nuclear Laboratory - Decontamination and Quarantine Facility - Resource Storage - Petroleum, Oils and Lubricants Storage and Handling Facility - 10,500ft Paved Runway (adapted from existing surfaces) - Helicopter Landing Pad - Temperature Controlled Hangars (4x) - Vehicle and Aircraft Manufacturing Plants - Air Traffic Control - Vehicle Parking Lot SECURITY As standard the facility will be covered with secure covert CCTV networks to minimise blind spots on the exterior and prioritise high security areas within any buildings or facilities. All buildings, hangers and facilities are secured by air-lock gateway pass doors supplied and activated by the Swedish Department of Defence only. A barbed wire fence surrounds the facility and any external monitoring positions. Facility is covered by a covert network of motion and sound surveillance systems which encompass an additional cordon of fencing preventing movement of vehicular traffic towards the base. Adequate road and pedestrian networks surround and allow travel within the base. Any vehicle gates are secured by recessed traffic control measures. Emergency back up generates secure the supply of electricity, gas, water and sewage if necessary. Internal burglary and fire alarm and suppression systems installed. |
