PROJECT INFORMATION | The AIDC F-CK-2 “Black Serpent” , Taiwanese natively-designed fifth-generation air superiority fighter, all weather tactical fighter aircraft designed by Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC) represents the largest step forwards for what is swiftly becoming one of the world's prime arms industry innovators and developers. Standing among only a few other nations in even attempting such a project, the Taiwanese government maintains that it's first test flight will occur at the beginning of January 2013. Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC) is looking to procure at least 300 of this new fighter and primary user will be Republic of China Air Force. To reduce reliance of foreign arms purchases, Taiwanese government took an initiative to produce self sufficient indigenous fighter aircraft to protect nation airspace and fight against national enemies. The role of AIDC F-CK-2 will be Air Superiority Fighter and It will play lead combat aircraft. It will be designed to specially overcome the both Chinese J-20 and J-31. The air frame is built using light alloy and carbon materials. Through the use of electromagnetic wave-absorbing meta materials in its midsection, it exhibits light stealth capabilities, allowing it to intermittently disappear from radar. However, the gap between the body and the canards, along with the angle they form, negatively affects its stealth capability. It features a completely digital cockpit and instruments, with HUD and multiple MFD, displaying several systems and flight status indicators. Helmet Mounted Display System (HMDS) acts as a command center: precision target designation of all on board weapons is tied to the movement of the pilot's head and eyes. Synthetic Aperture Radar Systems will be used in the HUD to get better and perfect imagery. This AIDC F-CK 2 fighter will be cost friendly and easier maintenance.
