| PROJECT INFORMATION | Railroad expansion – phase 1: Modernising of current network and construction of major stations -Revitalisation and electrification of all current rail networks (3570km) -Doubling of all current single-track rail networks (3570km), enabling trains to travel in opposite directions simultaneously -Upgrading all current rail tracks to heavy rail where such is not present already, enabling both freight and passenger traffic. -Narrowing of the TAZARA railway line (970km), between Dar Es Salaam and Tunduma, to adhere to the accepted Tanzanian gauge width of 1000mm. This will lead to increased flexibility and efficiency of Tanzania’s rail infrastructure. A break-of-gauge will be constructed in Tunduma to maintain the Tanzania-Zambia Railway link. -Construction of 18 platform station in Dar Es Salaam (507,000m2) -Construction of 16 platform station in Dodoma (173,000m2) -Construction of 12 platform station in Tabora (44,000m2) Railroad expansion – phase 2: Connecting major population centres to the rail network -Mtwara – Dar Es Salaam: electrified, double-track (574km) Estimated 200,000 people connected to the rail network. Train Station with 11 platforms constructed in Mtwara (85,000m2). Mtwara aimed to be regional transport hub in Southern Tanzania and projected to construct first line linking Tanzania and Mozambique from this station. Train Stations with 2 platforms constructed in 23 towns: Mikindani, Mingoyo, Lindi, Mbanja, Mchinga, Ruawa, Kitomanga, Mitole, Kiwawa, Kizimbani, Ukuli, Lingaula, Nangurukou, Kilwa Masoko, Kilwa Kivinje, Miteja, Matapatapa, Somanga, Marendego, Muhoro, Ikwiriri, Kibiti, Bungu, -Songea – Mlimba: electrified, double-track (282km) Estimated 240,000 people connected to the rail network Train Station with 6 platforms constructed in Songea (60,000m2) Train Stations with 2 platforms constructed in 3 towns: Ngoharanga, Mgalimila, Mpanga, -Mpanda – Sumbawanga – Tunduma: electrified, double-track (512km) Estimated 350,000 people connected to the rail network. Train station with 6 platforms constructed in Mpanda (13,700m2) and Tunduma(15,200m2) Train station with 5 platforms constructed in Sumbawanga(12,300m2) Train station with 2 platforms constructed in 12 towns: Magamba, Sitalike, Kisi, Mwai, Mashete, Chala, Milundikwa, Nkundi, Ntendo, Kizwete, Tamasenga, Kalamazwite, -Makambako – Mafinga – Iringa – Dodoma: electrified, double-track (487km) Estimated 1,310,200 people connected to the rail network. Train station with 9 platforms constructed in Makambako (24,000m2) Train station with 8 platforms built in Iringa (28,200m2) Train stations with 2 platforms constructin in 17 towns: Nyororo, Matanana, Ifunda, Tanangozi, Ugwachanya, Kitwiru, Lugalo, Ismani, Luganga, Winza, Ikuyu, Kikbakwe, Berege, Mvumi Mission, Mvumi Makulu, Ntyuka, Mafinga -Bukoba – Mwanza – Musoma: electrified, double-track (681km) Estimated 634,400 people connected to the rail network.
