The Andaman Linkway represents Thailand’s bold step toward transforming regional connectivity by establishing a world-class, environmentally sustainable infrastructure that will bridge the gap between Phuket province and the Koh Tao district of Phang Nga province. This network of four interconnected cable-stayed bridges, spanning a total length of 16.969 kilometers, will seamlessly integrate with local transportation systems, creating a vital corridor for economic, cultural, and social exchange across the Andaman Sea.

The Andaman Linkway is collectively envisioned by the national consensus to be an integrated and sustainable bridge network that strengthens Thailand’s regional connection and bring communities closer together. It will enhance mobility between Phuket and Koh Yao islands, making it easier for residents, tourists, and businesses to access key designation. The linkway will promote tourism and regional economics by connecting world-renowned resorts, beaches, and cultural attractions with greater ease and reduce environmental impact through carefully engineered designs that avoid disrupting delicate marine ecosystems. Furthermore, the Andaman Linkway will serve as a model for green infrastructure development that other countries can follow, aligning with Thailand’s broader sustainability goal.

The Andaman Linkway bridges will feature cable-stayed structures using high performance materials, optimized to endure harsh coastal conditions while offering minimal maintenance and superior aesthetics. Reinforced concrete decks combined with weathering steel cables and pylons will be used for their high durability, corrosion resistance, and minimal environmental impact. Each bridge with harmonize with the natural environment, incorporating sleek and elegant pylons that resemble waves and sails, symbolizing the connection between land and sea. LED lights, powered by solar panels, will be implemented to reduce energy consumption and prevent light pollution, ensuring minimal disturbance to nocturnal wildlife. The project will rely on long-span engineering to reduce the number of pillars placed in the water, preserving shallow marine habitats. This design also ensures safe navigation corridors for boats and ferries, promoting uninterrupted waterway transport.

As the bridges cross Thailand’s internal waters, the project will implement robust environmental mitigation measures to protect the marine and coastal ecosystems. There will be usage of silt curtains and underwater noise suppression techniques during construction to prevent harm to marine life. Seagrass and Mangrove restoration projects will be initiated along the bridge route to support biodiversity and coastal resilience. Special passages beneath the bridges will allow for interrupted fish migration and movement of marine species. Continuous environmental monitoring will be carried out to tract and mitigate any impact during and after construction.

The Andaman Linkway will foster regional growth by transforming how people and goods move between Phuket and the Koh Yao Islands. It will empower local cooperative businesses by improving access to market and resources and boast the tourism sector by providing convenient links to luxury resorts, pristine beaches, and cultural attraction on the islands. Moreover, it will strengthen community bonds between the islands and mainland Thailand, promoting deeper social and cultural integration. The project will also generate thousands of jobs during its construction phase and provide long-term employment opportunities in maintenance, tourism, and logistics. Local communities will benefit from enhanced public services and infrastructure, ensuring that the project leaves a lasting legacy of prosperity and development.

To ensure seamless and safe operation, the Andaman Linkway will be equipped with advanced monitoring systems to detect structural movements, environmental changes, and marine activities. Automated toll collection systems are implemented for smooth traffic flow, with prioritized access for residents and eco-friendly vehicles. There will also be smart transportation features, such as weather monitoring stations and digital navigation aids for maritime traffic. These technologies will guarantee safety, efficiency, and long-term performance, while minimizing maintenance costs over the bridge’s lifespan.
