PROJECTCoastal Fisheries and Aquaculture Development II
PROJECT COST525,000,000.00
COMPLETION DATE01/06/2024
PROJECT INFORMATIONThe Coastal Fisheries and Aquaculture Development facilities in Songkhla, Surat Thani, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Samut Songkhram, Samut Sakhon, Samut Prakan, and Prachuap Khiri Khan are engineered to be state-of-the-art centers for sustainable seafood production. Each facility spans approximately 100 acres and is strategically located near key maritime routes for easy access to both domestic and international markets.

The facilities are divided into two main sectors: Open Ocean Fisheries and Controlled Environment Aquaculture. Both sectors are designed to operate in synergy, sharing resources like water treatment plants, feed mills, and processing units.

The Open Ocean Fisheries sector is equipped with a fleet of fishing vessels designed for sustainable fishing practices. These vessels are fitted with advanced sonar and GPS systems for precise navigation and fish location, as well as bycatch reduction devices to minimize the capture of non-target species. Onboard processing units allow for immediate storage of catch in temperature-controlled environments to maintain freshness.

The Controlled Environment Aquaculture sector consists of multiple types of culture systems, including recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS), flow-through systems, and open-net pens. Each system is tailored for specific species, ranging from finfish like grouper to shellfish like shrimp. Water quality is continuously monitored through automated sensors that measure parameters such as pH, dissolved oxygen, and ammonia levels, allowing for real-time adjustments to maintain optimal conditions.

Both sectors are supported by a centralized Water Treatment Plant equipped with mechanical and biological filtration systems, as well as UV sterilization units to ensure water quality. A dedicated Feed Mill produces specialized feeds tailored for different species and life stages, incorporating sustainable ingredients like algae-based proteins and oils.

The facilities also include a Processing and Packaging Unit, where the catch and cultured seafood are sorted, processed, and packaged. This unit features conveyor systems, filleting machines, and vacuum packaging lines, all compliant with international food safety standards.

Data management is a critical component, with a centralized data center that collects and analyzes data from various operations. This includes catch data, water quality parameters, feed conversion ratios, and other key performance indicators. The data center employs advanced analytics software for predictive modeling and optimization of operations.

Human resources include marine biologists, aquaculture engineers, and fisheries experts. Continuous training programs are in place to ensure that staff are updated on best practices and emerging technologies in sustainable fisheries and aquaculture.
