PROJECT COST5,500,000,000.00
COMPLETION DATE14/10/2023
PROJECT INFORMATIONThe City of Houston is one of the largest and fastest growing cities not only in Texas, but in all of America. Houston has millions of people and is home to one of the largest ports in the United States. Also, as a consequence of the lack of geological obstacles around the city other than the ocean, it is surprisingly not dense. The metropolitan area of Houston consists of millions more people in other cities; however, the entire area is interconnected. Despite its massive size and economic prowess, Houston has exceptionally poor public transportation which requires most citizens to own cars. In order to invest in Houston's future, the Department of Transportation has selected it as one of the cities for an expanded local light rail network.

METRORail will have a large hub in downtown Houston, which will connect directly with Amtrak lines, and will serve as a nexus for transportation for the city and Harris County. From this nexus, lines will extensively run throughout downtown Houston and within the I-610 corridor. There will be further branches out to be within Beltway 8.

There will be a route that goes directly from downtown to downtown Galveston. This route in particular will have stops near San Jacinto College South, League City, Dickinson, La Marque, and the Santa Fe Railroad Station in downtown Galveston that will be brought back into active service as a transportation hub.

There will also be extended branches that go out to The Woodlands, Katy, and Sugarland. Also, there will be a single route that goes out to Pasadena, Deer Park, La Porte, Seabrook, and Khema (this line would then meet up to the stop in League City).
