| PROJECT INFORMATION | The United States Light House Service would allocate $7-million to the restoration and preservation of Long Island Head Light, located on Long Island in Boston Harbor. It would be given a new 3.5-order Fresnel lens. The tower itself would be repainted, the interior would be restored and cleaned, and a structural assessment would be done to ensure that it was safe to continue to use - any repairs that would need to be made, were made. The keeper's quarters were also restored and provided with modern amenities, power, plumbing, and all other things necessary for a comfortable modern standard of living. A flagpole was erected somewhere near the lighthouse or keeper's quarters to fly the United States flag and the U.S.L.H.S. pennant. Both the keeper's quarters and the tower would be on the same power grid as the rest of the island. Solar panels would be installed near the keeper's quarters to provide secondary power for the lighthouse, as well as the appropriate battery setup to make this work. |
