The Arab Republic of Egypt expresses its condolences to all the victims of the vile and coward terrorist attacks executed around the world, extending its sympathies to the affected Governments. Terrorism is a vile and coward criminal act, affecting most of the times innocent lives, as our nation has suffered them in the recent past and continues to be something that we have to deal with on a day to day basis, something that many nations are lucky to not be subject to. The Arab Republic of Egypt also reaffirms its commitment with neutrality, announcing that it will refrain from intervening or supporting any potential military intervention in the Middle East. We have seen in the recent past that the acts of extra regional actors have had dire consequences for populations in our region and severely hindered the development of local economies through the arbitrary drawing of borders and exploitation of natural resources. The Arab Republic of Egypt will not support any military acts that lead to the presence of armed forces from countries that have nothing to do in the Middle East, while at the sime time encourages to use diplomatic and judicial means to bring justice. With this clear the Government announces and puts imemdiatly in effect a total exclusion zone spanning egyptian territory and waters, including EEZ, and its corresponding airspace. Patrols will be implemented to enforce the egyptian sovereignty and monitoring will be conducted on adjacent areas. We invite other neutral nations in the Middle East to adopt similar stances. |
