Across Syria and rebroadcasted to the world the Syrian State TV "Standby" message would disappear being replaced by a view of a podium in the Syrian Parliament building. Emerging from the left walked in Syria's President Hafez al-Assad who approached the podium and organized the documents he brought out with him before finally looking at the camera and addressing the State as well as the world.

"Today is a new day for our country. With the finalization of this election and the clear support for my Ba'athist party we have solidified our control and can finally work to lead our nation out of these dark times."

Assad would take a second to look down at the papers to let the last point set in. Syria had suffered greatly due to the Economic Crisis that gripped the world. Syria had gone through a crisis period with many seeing the nation as a failed state do to constant civil strife and the failing of civil order. Assad had finally come back out on top and wanted not just the crippled nation know but also the world.

"I have lead this country for many years and we have seen the worst happen to this nation. We failed in our attempt the liberate the Golan Heights from Israel, we faced a potential invasion from Iraq just a few short years ago. An invasion that Syria had to let in foreigners to help protect us from that potential because we were not strong enough. It was a conflict that ended suddenly and without any decisive conclusion that allows Syria to remain safe from the East."

Assad had just publicly talked about two military failures that occurred on his watch. One in which a part of the nation couldn't be liberated and another in which if they had been invaded again they would need to rely on Western support.

"And finally the Economic collapse that has stripped our nation of its wealth, drove our citizens to a life of crime and stripped our nations military down to bare essentials."

Assad paused now to allow everyone to reflect on the hard times the country had faced. He didn't even have to talk about the wide spread civil breakdown in detail which put the nation in the shadows until a recent election that was recognized by all disagreeing parties (the ones that were still able to voice concern).

"But now we have turned the page. I am here to tell everyone that Syria is back on the world stage. We will rebuild our national economy, develop our society back to its rightful place and rebuild our military to be a regional power to be reckoned with and one that will put fear in our Enemies to our East and West where once they saw prey. To the world specifically know this....Syria is back."

Assad quickly retrieved his possessions and exited the stage with the speed of someone with a lot to be accomplished.

Syrian State TV would cut away with news reporters discussing the short speech and what it could mean for the weary nation.
