A sentiment as rose within the Portuguese People, the republic as been tried and tested three time in Portugal, in 1910,1933 and 1975, however it as failed constantly to bring Portugal to its previous status, the one they lost when the monarchy fell, in 1990, the Monarchy tried to be implement, but unsuccessfully because it didn't follow the Portuguese Ideals and Way, the world as no place for absolute monarchs, which hold all the power in their hands. However democracy and monarchy can work together to bring peace and prosperity to a nation, however it needs to tread carefully to avoid from falling into corruption.
This feeling is growing in the Portuguese, late do they miss the historic feats and prestige Portugal had during its golden age, its discoveries, its way of life. Light corruption spread to various corner of the government, unbeknownst to even the Prime Minister. The People are growing tried as such they are viewing the monarchy with better eyes than ever, reaching a tipping point.
A few weeks have passed and now the idea is spreading through newspapers and channel news, about the possible disposition of the President and the dissolution of the republic, and the implementation of the Monarchy in the same vein as the British Monarchy, where government officials and the monarchy hold hands. It would all blow over one day when the population started doing peaceful demonstrations through the country for a possible referendum to implement this idea. The Monarchy Party of Portugal would take this as and advantage to push forwards this idea, however for that they needed the support of the current Prime Minister, which was almost guarantied, due to is own political leanings towards this idea. As such when everything was ready and support was reaching its maximum peak, the Prime Minister and the current pretender to the throne would meet in his official residence, tried to muster support for the Monarchy cause, at first the pretender would be reluctant to accept, it had only been a couple of months since this idea started to rise, however the Prime Minister would call to his own patriotic feeling, Portugal could very well fall into a civil war, due to how big the support for his reign was and how bipolar it had started to because, with one side of the Population calling for the Monarchy and the other for the Republic, only after constant pushes did the Dom Duarte Pio of Bragança accept the idea.
The President seeing the country in the brink of a possible real, civil war, would need to call for a referendum, where the monarchy would be implemented or stay with the republic. By implementing the monarchy the President of Portugal would be removed from office, the Prime Minister would continue, the position of King of Portugal would be created, akin to the position of the King/Queen of the UK, however with the additional powers to dissolve the parliament and call for elections, and would also be the high supreme commander of the Portuguese Armed Forces, which would be renamed Portuguese Royal Armed Forces.
One month of campaign would be granted, parties supporting either the Republic or the Monarchy would fight for influence in that month... and then the day would arrive, the referedum would be won to the Monarchy, by a slim margin, around 65,5% to 34,5% of the votes, however just enough to dictate the future of Portugal.... into a monarchy.
The Rise of the Monarchy in Portugal had begun, however the path in front would not be easy, as there would always be the sentiment of the Republic brewing within it, and... an agreessive movement, which would take any opportunity to rise again.
The new King of Portugal, his Majesty Duarte II
The flag that would be chosen by now King of Portugal, Duarte Pio of Bragança Dynasty, the flag of the Previous King of Portugal in the 18th century, King Joseph I.
The White meant peace and prosperity and in the middle the Greater Royal symbol of Portugal
