The Grand Assembly of the People had been going on for a few days now and while originally there was mostly arguing and extensive debating, eventually a consensus was reached on the future of the Middle Kingdom. The people had grown tired of a system that allowed for so much corruption on all layers. While no one wanted the Emperor of old back, they definitely liked the capabilities of such absolute power. Initially led by the Han Chinese, in the end even minority groups supported the measure once constitutional guarantees were granted for their autonomy. China was to once again empower a single leader to make the decisions needed to guide the country to greatness.
What they also agreed on, was that there was only a single person in the country that could properly keep the peace and project Chinese interests to the world. The woman tracing her lineage back to Kublai Khan, educated by the Han Chinese, fighting for the needs of the people and with a love for all those in her realm. Whether they were Han Chinese, Mongolian, Uyghur or any of the other ethnic and religious groups.
As Zhi walked into the courtyard where all the discussions so far had taken place she could see the delegates assembling for the final vote on the full text of the new constitution. The end of China. Zhi would keep a distance, instead opting to observe the proceedings from a distance. After ten minutes all the delegates had been assembled and the foreman read the final text. Upon its conclusion the cheers made clear the delegates had passed the document with near unanimity.
Once the formal voting had concluded Zhi walked through the courtyard towards the stairs where the foreman was standing. As she continued the delegates bowed whenever she approached. Once at the stairs the foreman again spoke. “Her Imperial Majesty Yuan Zhi, Daughter of Heaven, Lady of Ten Thousand Years, the People’s Empress”
Zhi nodded at the foreman before walking up to the stairs and once at the top turning towards the delegates. At this point the cameras that had been set up in advance would begin recording and transmit the message to the world.
“People of Heaven,
Today your delegates have seen it proper to honour me with the great privilege of formally becoming your leader for life. The age of the People’s Republic is over, from today we shall be Tiāncháo Diguo, the Celestial Empire.
With this new constitution also comes the end to the era of excessive restrictions. I formally hereby conclude the state of emergency and together we shall return the state to normalcy. Many changes will be made but together we will bring prosperity to all under heaven.
To our allies I say, do not be concerned. The Celestial Empire will continue to honour all the obligations it has made. To our enemies I say, the Celestial Empire maintains all its claims. Today we are stronger than ever before. One people united by purpose and order.
Thank you all.”
With that the Grand Assembly of the People had come to its natural conclusion. The Celestial Empire was back.
