I strongly disagree with moderation on this thread, should this be a simulation of real life then my counter is successful. Whilst I understand MN cannot be entirely realistic, roleplay requires an 'attack vs. counter' situation rather than 'attack attack attack attack'.

In this scenario I have no choice but to accept my fate purely because I didn't encrypt a private organisations emails... private organisations do not encrypt their emails ordinary and enforcing a scenario where everyone encrypts everything makes the rule pointless in itself. I should have the ability to use my knowledge of computer systems and networking to my advantage in order to prevent attacks against my state, similar to how those with better knowledge of firearms and mechanised vehicles could counter me in a wartime scenario with their own technical knowledge.

Hello @Connor

Thank you for your ticket, as this has been escalated from the Support Team to the Administration team, I have been reviewing the topic in question [https://modernnations.com/threads/storhet-auktioner-email-to-iran.4971/#post-17920].

In the scenario, a message was sent from Storrhet Auktioner to Iran via an email. However, your email did not contain private or encrypted as per rule [6] of the General Ruleset, this rule specifies that:

"To Encrypt or make Private Communication and Actions requires one of the following — PRIVATE, ENCRYPTED or SECRET
Scenarios that do not contain any one of these terms, are Public Knowledge. Topic Titles and descriptions aren't valid."

Without the specification of 'PRIVATE', 'ENCRYPTED' or 'SECRET', your email is considered public knowledge and can be taken advantage of by other Players as this complements the PvP aspect of the forum. This rule is also one to refer to in relation to your counter; given it's public information, no interception was neccessary. It was a public email. Interception is only required (and must be done prior to a message) if it fulfils the classification surrounding private communications.

Reflecting back, this rule has been in place for a number of years now and whilst I understand the real world aspect, as a roleplay forum, we rely heavily on what is included in posts and the concept surrounding privacy/intercepted communications is something brushed up on in the rules to prevent these issues.

To conclude:
The email sent to Iran is public knowledge, that, as per the rules, does include the entirety of the communication.

I hope this clears it up.

Kind Regards,
Jamie
