BREAKING NEWS Singaporean government has reintroduced the "Speak Mandarin Campaign" and made it a national policy.

According to state officials the government will be reintroducing the "Speak Mandarin Campaign" which was firstly implemented during the 1970's as one of the major controversial maneuvers at that time, behind it was to unify Singaporean-Chinese identity within the population, eventually our predecessors scrapped such policy overtime. Fast forward to the 21st century, Singapore's overall demographic is still reaching above 75 percent Chinese, so with careful study and considerations, the national government made a unilateral decision to re-implement this policy which will take effect in the coming days and weeks, which means, the entire country, including its education system, business, culture, will be reorganized to accommodate Singaporean Mandarin on all aspects of life, which also means the country will be more focused on promoting its Chinese heritage as its eventual by product, other relevant languages, sub cultures will be respectfully fall under the umbrella of the national identity. Although experts may think that this will again foster social instability, the overall mood and opinion of most Singaporeans today, which has been more open to change, will have little problem adopting the policy, not to mention that most of our fellowmen already speak Singaporean Mandarin will be able to adjust more smoothly and conveniently.

It is believed that in regards to all foreign individuals and locals who would not be able to identify or understand Singaporean Mandarin will have no reason to cause concern, as English was Singapore main Lingua Franca, the language barrier is relatively low. This policy will only compress Singapore's multiracial and diverse cultures into one single identity, even though Singaporean Mandarin will now be the sole official language of Singapore with other secondary languages such as Malay, English, and Tamil right beside it, nothing will change, Singapore will still be the only Jewel in the Asia-Pacific region, boasting a rich cultural heritage and exporting unity though diversity.

A sudden surge of protests from youth groups and universities calling for the abolition of the "Speak Mandarin Campaign" Policy has erupted within the city state, hundreds of thousands protesters take to the street, primarily Singaporeans and some foreign individuals who are said to have been negatively affected by the reintroduction of the policy.

Many schools and universities are emptied as Singaporean students held protests yesterday, the police have called such grouping as unlawful and without proper permit, nevertheless the protests are expected to last more than a week, depending on how the police handles the situation, sources say, parents have been worried and begged their children to come home or go to class instead of attending unlawful public demonstrations, "My baby girl is there because of her friends, I'm sure those friends of hers forced her due to peer pressure" One parent said in an interview inside one of the affected universities.

The Government as yet to make any official statements, but what we have already seen as response is the deployment of police officers wearing riot gear.

The Vice-Chancellor's of the Australian universities with campuses in Singapore would issue a joint statement. The largest of which include Curtin University Singapore and James Cook University Singapore. Others include the Ngee Ann Adelaide Education Centre of the University of Adelaide and the Newcastle Australia Institute of Higher Education Singapore of the University of Newcastle. The remaining presence of Australian universities in Singapore offer their programs through private Singaporean institutions.

"The growing degree of violence which is being experienced on university campuses in Singapore is alarming. Whilst we maintain that all students have a right to freedom of protest and expression, we do not condone any acts of violence between students. We will continue to work with the Singapore Police Force and our own campus security to ensure that campuses remain a safe environment for all students to study and express themselves."

FOREIGN NATIONAL BEATEN BY POLICE DIED AT HOSPITAL

morgue.jpeg

Today sunday afternoon, a foreign national was confirmed dead by the admitting hospital due to external and internal injuries, it is believes that the primary cause of death was due to the multiple fatal strokes in the head and body, the patient was barely breathing after she was admitted. The press on site saw doctors trying to revive the patient via CPR and defibrillator, unfortunately the patient was unable to recover, the hospital refused to comment regarding the situation, although the SPD was also present they also refused to comment or give any personal opinions. All we know is that the deceased was a foreign tourist, in her 20's, must have been visiting acquaintances who are most likely university students in the country, who unfortunately just happened to be at the wrong place and at the wrong time.

With the current news already spreading on multiple social media outlets, it is expected the protests will go on for much longer, and the police will have their hands full this time, especially if the deceased individual will be the spark for protesters to go violent.

Singapore Government Issues Diplomatic Protest

307eef1c7cd541cba8f4bf4e2969a281.jpg

Breaking News this afternoon as the government has announced an official diplomatic protest in regards to foreign navies casual use of the Malacca straight which is generally considered a key tactical chokepoint.

According to inside sources, reports regarding a Polish contingent may soon traverse the Malacca Straight and can potentially operate near Singapore's already limited territorial waters. It is universally clear that the Straight is universally considered an important waterway that connects important trade networks between the Indo-Pacific region and the rest of the world. It is believed that it's uninhibited use by foreign navies is generally concerning.

A foreign affairs representative stated,

"The casual use of such key waterway by foreign navies and to mention such important detail after having already executed such action is quite displeasing. Therefore, we are issuing a diplomatic protest to the international community to review such actions and to determine if foreign navies are allowed to use the chokepoint with such carefree attitude."

"We know it is very much considered as international waters, but since Singapore is directly situated between this small passage, we ask for everyone to consider its strategic geographic location, a waterway globally understood as a lifeline for many maritime nations, and that any sudden military activities no matter how big or small will always directly affect Singapore's national security. We urge the Polish government to reconsider its actions and should direct its task force to sail home instead, for Singapore does not require Polish warships idling near the area due to one fact, there is no external threat to its citizens that requires the use of military forces, equipped with ship to ship or ship to land armaments. Singapore and many nearby countries are most capable of handling the situation in case there is a need to implement such far fetch contingencies, and we ourselves are prepared to evacuate any individuals should the situation arise the need to do so."

"We understand Poland may still go through with its operation, if that should be the case, Singapore's national security concerns will always come first and we expect the involved parties to follow any necessary measures our government shall make."

"In addition, involved parties are expected to be heavily monitored by the Singapore coast guard when traversing or operating near our territorial waters and airspace."

"Lastly, in accordance with the government, the nation have called in a state of increased military and civil defense readiness to all active servicemembers and reserve personnel, affected individuals are obligated to report to their local barracks or training academies, in response to unwanted foreign military forces potentially operating near Singapore's exclusive territory. Thank you everyone. That will be all, Q and A's will be reserved only for face to face appointments."

With this update, experts predict many organized protests whether lawful or unlawful will begin to simmer down as most university students are members of Singapore's reserve forces, and are fully mandated to comply in an event of a national call-up.

Still, with the death of the Indian national still fresh, the government has not once mentioned her during its official press statement earlier. As Singaporeans, we are all familiar with this routine, that particular incident will only be addressed and resolved only after the immediate crisis blows over.
