About Us

Socialist Causes is an independent, globally-minded non-governmental organization dedicated to fostering a peaceful transition from capitalism to socialism worldwide. We believe in a future where economic systems are designed to serve the people, ensuring equity, democracy, and sustainability. Our mission is to advocate for and support the establishment of democratic socialism rooted in decentralized, democratically planned, and worker cooperative-oriented market socialism.​

We envision economies that are democratically controlled and managed by the workers themselves, ensuring that the wealth generated by labor benefits all members of society rather than a select few.​

Our Mission

Socialist Causes is committed to promoting and supporting the peaceful transition to democratic socialism globally. Our efforts focus on:

1. Education and Awareness: We strive to educate the public about the benefits of democratic socialism, emphasizing its potential to create a more just and equitable society. Through workshops, seminars, publications, and digital media, we aim to provide comprehensive resources on the principles and practices of democratic socialism.
2. Policy Advocacy: We engage with policymakers, think tanks, and international organizations to advocate for policies that facilitate the transition to decentralized, democratically planned, and worker cooperative-oriented market socialism. By providing resources, training, and networking opportunities, we empower communities to take control of their economic destinies. 4. Research and Development: We conduct and sponsor research on the practical applications of decentralized, democratically planned, and worker cooperative-oriented market socialism. Our research aims to provide actionable insights and strategies for communities and nations seeking to transition to this economic model.

Our Economic Model

At Socialist Causes, we advocate for an economic model based on decentralized, democratically planned, and worker cooperative-oriented market socialism. This model emphasizes the following principles:

1. Decentralization: We believe that economic decision-making should be decentralized, allowing local communities and workers to have a direct say in the economic processes that affect their lives. Decentralization promotes accountability, responsiveness, and innovation.
2. Democratic Planning: Economic planning should be a democratic process involving the participation of all stakeholders, including workers, consumers, and community members. Democratic planning ensures that economic activities align with the collective needs and aspirations of society.
3. Worker Cooperatives: At the heart of our economic model are worker cooperatives, where workers own and control the means of production. Worker cooperatives empower individuals, promote equality, and foster a sense of ownership and responsibility among workers.

Our Governance

Together, they provide strategic direction, oversight, and guidance to ensure the effective and transparent operation of our organization.​

Board of Directors

Our Board of Directors is the highest governing body, responsible for setting the strategic vision and ensuring the organization remains true to its mission and values. The board is composed of individuals who bring a wealth of experience in social justice, economic democracy, and sustainable development.

• Dr. Somchai Wongsawat - Chairperson: With a Ph.D. in Political Economy, Dr. Wongsawat has over two decades of experience in advocating for economic reform and social justice in Thailand and internationally.
• Nattaporn Thongchai - Vice Chairperson: A prominent labor rights activist, Thongchai has been instrumental in organizing worker cooperatives and promoting fair labor practices across Southeast Asia.
  Siriporn Lertkrai - Treasurer: An expert in non-profit financial management, Lertkrai ensures our financial transparency and sustainability, overseeing all financial operations and reporting.
• Preecha Rattanapong - Secretary: With a background in community organizing and social work, Rattanapong coordinates our board meetings and ensures effective communication among board members.

Executive Team

Our Executive Team is responsible for the day-to-day management of Socialist Causes, implementing the strategic direction set by the Board of Directors and overseeing our various programs and initiatives.

• Ananya Phanich - Executive Director: Phanich leads the organization with a passion for social justice and a commitment to empowering communities. She has a robust background in international development and grassroots mobilization.
• Kritsada Chaiyaphong - Director of Education and Awareness: Chaiyaphong spearheads our educational initiatives, developing workshops, seminars, and digital content to spread awareness about democratic socialism.
• Jintana Kittisak - Director of Policy Advocacy: Kittisak leads our policy advocacy efforts, engaging with policymakers and international organizations to promote policies aligned with our vision.
• Worawat Pholchai - Director of Support and Solidarity: Pholchai coordinates our support for grassroots movements, providing resources and training to empower local communities.
• Tawan Srisuwan - Director of Research and Development: Srisuwan oversees our research projects, ensuring they provide actionable insights for transitioning to a decentralized, democratically planned economic model.

Our International Presence

Thailand: The Headquarters of Socialist Causes is situated at True Digital Park, Bangkok, Thailand. With over 196,000 members across the country, Thailand is where our presence is most impactful, especially coupled with Thailand successful experiment with socialism, which shares many similarities to our vision.
Russia: Our Moscow Office is our first international presence outside Thailand, situated in SUMMIT Business Center at Tverskaya Street, 22, second floor, Moscow, Russia. Lead by Burtsov Semyon Borisovich, Socialist Causes is committed to continuing promoting the robust democratic institution of the Russian Federation while advocating for a peaceful transition from capitalism to socialism. Our presence in Russian is current 1,200 members in Moscow, while modest, is steadily growing.
New Zealand: Our Auckland Office is our first presence in the South Pacific, situated at 22 Fanshawe Street, City Centre, Auckland City, Auckland. Lead by Ross Wilson, who is the President of the New Zealand Council of Trade Unions, Socialist Causes is committed to continuing promoting the robust democratic institution and workers' empowerments of the Commonwealth of New Zealand while advocating for a peaceful transition from capitalism to socialism.​
