An address would be made by the State President, P.W. Botha from his office in Pretoria and broadcasted over Radio RSA across the world. He would address the nation in Afrikaans and an English translation would be provided.

"Goeienaand,

Dit."

English translation:

"Good evening,

Today I have had the pleasure returning to my position as State President full time after taking leave of absence for two years handing the reigns of Acting State President to the Vice State President F.W. de Klerk. I want to reaffirm to that nation that our unwaivering commitment to a prosperous South Africa and to the development of black self-determination remains strong. We also want to reassure that Namibia or South West Africa is not out of sights. We remain firm in our position to retake Namibia as sovereign territory of South Africa as it has now been 7 years since independence was illegal granted to them. The SWAPO Government in Windhoek remains criminal and continues to persecute White Namibians. We are deeply concerned about the movement of European forces to our doorstep in Rhodesia. The Rhodesian Government has been taken over by an illegal and communist regime and brought in these forces without consultation with us. We remain firm in our position to see them leave promptly and we will offer whatever support is needed to Rhodesia to rebuild the country and to rid it of the communist leeches which have taken it over.

No outside country shall dictate to us what the contents of our political program shall be. We do not desire it, nor do we seek it, but if we are forced to go it alone... then. so. be. it."
