My name is Inés Arrimadas and I am the Minister of Defence in the Kingdom of Spain and I am writing to you today to enquire about the possibility of a military exercise between the British Army and the Spanish Army. Our countries have shared a close bond in the past which has also been crumbled by other governments but it is this governments aim to try and repair relations between us. I am open to further discussion if an exercise is out of the picture at the moment. Please do let me know.

Thank you for contacting the Ministry of Defence. We are happy to hear of your interest in reconciliation and happily welcome it. The previous Spanish Governments have been short lived, so I do hope your own will seek to offer stability for the Spanish people, but with that in mind, and in support of that idea, we would be happy for an exercise to be arranged between units from the British and Spanish armies. Please can you confirm any details regarding the exercise such as date, type of exercise and the size you expect the exercise to be, and we can work from there if that's possible?

Our army can do any date after next week. Our soldiers are due to be restructured to their assigned barracks. We're looking to train our soldiers in conventional warfare which is something the the British Army excels in and we want to learn from the best, we're looking at maybe 1,000 troops if that suits you. We can send more or send less if needed. Whether this is in Spain or in Great Britain is down to you. I'm sure that we can have a location lined up if needed.

I have something else to discuss. It may come of nothing or it may well work out well. The Spanish Air Force is in the market for transport aircraft and we've been scouting lots of different aircraft and the two aircraft that 'jump' out at us the most is the Airbus A400M and the Airbus A330 MRTT, two splendid aircraft which are owned by your government. We would like to purchase a select amount of aircraft for our air force or if possible we would like to loan an amount of these aircraft where we pay an annual fee to your government, what we are also offering is to surrender our claims to the territory of Gibraltar and will sign an official agreement to cement and recognise that Britain will hold a full claim to this territory.

Dear Inés Arrimadas,

We would be happy to attend a joint training exercise located in Spain with the focus on Conventional Warfare. Based on the structure of the British Army, we would offer a battlegroup of soldiers which holds roughly 600 personnel. We would also be happy for this to be Spanish-led and managed. We would just need to identify a suitable date for it to begin and for us to arrange travel of our personnel and equipment into Spain.

Unfortunately neither the Airbus A4400M Atlas nor the Airbus A330 MRTT are open for exports; with the only export been of the A330 for ISAF Member States under negotiation. The recommendation we can offer is the selling, or lease, of C-130-30-Js or C-27 Spartans which would be handled by Ziron Defence.

It's unfortunate that we could not make a deal. We would still like to make a deal regarding the offer with Ziron and will make contact with them when the funds are available to strike a deal.

We would prefer if you was to take the lead in the training operation as you will have a better understanding of what to plan and do. Our troops will of course follow any commands set out by the relevant British parties and what not. If you have any details about a location you need then pass them onto myself and I will be able to have an appropriate location selected near an airfield for your troops to land at.

Dear Inés Arrimadas,

Britain is exploring a more of a mentoring role when it comes to military exercises. We are finding that repetitively leading exercises does not prove efficient for countries aiming to work with us closely. We would heavily recommend it be Spanish-led with Britain having input and a voice in the exercise. Which would allow you to have the flexibility to chose the location; we will be happy to accommodate any dates.
