{Objectives}
- Establish a temporary Frigate Escort Group to conduct anti-piracy missions.
- Assert naval presence in the Arabian Sea.
- Ensure safety passage and protection of all Spanish and Foreign Trade Shipping.
{Order of Battle}
as of NOVEMBER1997
SAS Reina Sofía (Santa María-class frigate)
[223] Navy and Air Personnel
[20] Naval Infantry
[2] Sikorsky SH-60B
{Area of Operations}
Known locations of Piracy Activity
Complements were loaded onto their respective locations, the vessel and aircraft were fully armed, fueled and supplied for their mission. Ensuring everything was accessible and most of all, safe. A route would be confirmed and the area of operations would be given to the Captain, that area would be the international waters around the Arabian Sea (LK), which was were the attacks mostly originated and were conducted, they would mostly patrol the area that the Spanish Trade ships would work in, however they would occasionally move away from it to patrol other regions of that area
The main objective of this mission was to stem the piracy activity in the area to provide safe passage to vessels and to react to possible attacks in the area. Their Transit route would be IM>JM>KM>KL>KK>LK. Which would mean they would have enough fuel reserves for a least 1 month of operations, after that it was time to switch between another vessel of the same class.
For now the main preparations would be done before departing, briefings and mission knowledge, possible tactics of engagement were being discussed as the Vessel was being prepared.
